I don’t know about the sci fi but the real thing will be good: The world will certainly end in 2112.
270 days before it ends, it will be fun, as major events will occur every 20 days. Things are a bit slow at the moment but faster than they were.

We could use a good sci-fi, the new Stargate is really bad and won't last.

You want good sci-fi, make them bring back Firefly!

(Firefly), I looked it up because the name didn't ring a bell.
It was OK, but it didn't knock my socks off. A "Space Pirate" theme type of TV series. My favorite Sci-Fi's Are: (In no particular order) Dune (Both Original and series) Star Trek (Not the off shoots, Deep Space 9, etc.) Stargate (Not the off shoots, Atlantis, etc.) Sanctuary (It's OK) Jurassic Park Movies Terminator Star Wars (All of them) Chronicles of Riddick Aliens, Predator, Alien vs. Predator King Kong (The last one) These pretty much sums up the types of Sci-Fi I like: Good Dino Movies, Good Spaceship Movies, Good CGI Graphic Movies.

Dennis,
Serenity - the movie conclusion to the TV show "Firefly" is one of the best Sci-Fi movies made in my opinion..well worth a look. Not keen on 2012..it feels like disposable pop corn fayre...however Avatar is beginning to look as though it could be huge...think that will also be worth a look. |

I did see Serenity several times. It was OK but it just didn't give me enough "Sci-fi fix"

I love the way the cast works together in Firefly. Joss Whedon is very good at getting a true ensemble feel on his shows. At least the ones I've seen.
Never watched "Dollhouse." I also like the pseudo-western feel and lingo on the show. And the fact that for the most part the characters have the same kinds of problems as everyone else. I just thought it was a great television program that just happened to be set in a sci-fi world. The movie was great too. Depressing, but great. Of course, the film is much more engaging if you watched the series and had the resulting attachment to the characters.

Enjoyed Buffy, liked Firefly and currently enjoying Dollhouse.
Not sure we're gonna get a musical episode of Dollhouse but ... anyway - are folks ready for the rollercoaster ride of 2012?

Well I am waiting for my neighbour to finish building his Ark. As soon as he does I will steal it.

Superman 2: The Richard Donner Cut is better than the Superman 2 that we all used to know.
If you haven't seen it, get it. Carrie |

However the Donner cut that exists is not a complete film so, even though I'd like to agree with you, I'd have to say that , for good or bad, the original Superman 2 is the best version around. But please don't get me started on Superman Returns...Aaaaargh!!!! |

Dune, just finished reading the fist novel and now on Dune Messiah.
I'm reading the books right now, haven't read 'em since highschool. I will be watching the 1984 movie version tonight as Wal-Martopia has it in the five dollar bin, woot-woot! :) |

IMHO the Frank Herbert book that's (now just about) worth filming is Dosadi Experiment.

The Dune series is the only set of books that I have read that gets progressively worse with each book. I kept reading, hoping that Frank would be able to recapture the awesomeness of the first book but finally had to give up. Regarding the movie - The 1984 movie sucked IMO since it was not true to the book at all. Things were created out of thin air that made no sense, even for a movie. The 2000 SciFi Channel miniseries was much better and as true to the book as it could be.

They had this exhibit at the museum here with all of these sci fi movie costumes that were used in the films. They had stuff from Dune, Darth Vader's actual helmet, Indiana Jones' jacket, one of Indy's whips, and the grail from Last Crusade, Arnold's Terminator 1 jacket, the T1000 pointy fingers and bullet holes, all kinds of stuff. I think I stared at the Terminator jacket for an hour.
The sci-fi museum in Seattle rocks too. They have Terminator hands and exoskeletons and one of those Hunter Killer tanks, among about a jillion other things like Buck Rogers' space suit.

Several times, such as when 5 second clip, Alika stood holding a cryknife, it was a whole chapter in the book. It's true, the second miniseries had more and followed the book somewhat, I did like that series also, but the acting and characters did not seem right. There were two versions of the first Dune movie, the second much longer version was better, but rarely shown on TV or on DVD.
