So I came across this while looking on itricks.com The illusion is pretty good. What I like is that they are just cardboard boxes which makes it look less "gimmicked" if you know what I mean.
Heres the link http://itricks.com/store/2009/10/in-half/ Well what do you guys think? |

I'll wait for the reviews on this one. Looks great though.

It looks a lot like Pocket Sawing In Half to me. Anyone else get that?
But I will probably pick it up because I like it. |

Speaking of PSIH, loved the ability to lift onself up off the floor a la Johnny Eng (Johnny Eng? Johnny Eck?). It sure does a visual proof of no gimmicks, really cut in half. This would be fun to build in a dozen different ways.

Andrew has one of the best minds I magic as far as I'm concerned. This idea allows anybody who does a stage show to now add sawing to their act... in a way, I like this version better than others therefore allowing those who cant afford the fancy props to do just as well with cardboard.
What I like most about his stuff is that it does exactly as it states. Awesome!!! |

This is Pocket Sawing in Half on steroids! Andrew has found a way to take an originally relatively weak idea and turned it into an awesome illusion. So far I love it.

I think, and I bet everyone else thinks the same, that this has BIG potential as does most of Andrew's illusions. There are so many things possible here, you just need to tap into your creative side. Can't wait no that I've really thought about it.

I've usually liked Andrew's stuff and has his manuscripts, but this seems weak... I have two layman friends here right now and they both thought its very obvious.

Does anyone know of any performance video's of this illusion being done? Even if you didn't put it in a show, what a great party trick! Especially for the price!

It wouldn't be difficult to rig the illusion in such a way that the legs move after you've separated from them. This would be another huge convincer along with moving your torso up and down.

Nice but a bit too obvious. I suppose you could double wall the bottom box to show it empty then the legs then empty again.

I do think it's kind of funny and should fool young kids. If you put it in context and not just a puzzle.

Good morning.
I have not been dissapointed in any purchase that I have made from Mr. Mayne. There have been some that I will not use but the thinking behind the effects have always been top notch.

Fun looking piece that could work well in the right circumstances.
Using cardboard does look a bit tacky though and then some of the physics, like hoistng half your body up by pulling on a piece of cardboard, jar a little. I'd worry about the angles also on this and also the get ready when you step behind the boxes (which is edited out). A lot of the tricky business might be given away by shaking props. But it does look fun !! |
