The OP's question is rather vague. A "considerable large amount" may be different to a high schooler than to Bill Gates. The type of money has a large influence on the table manner of the game.
For example, if you are playing in a high dollar poker game, then chances are that you will not get to shuffle or deal the cards. Then it doesn't matter how good you are at riffle stacking, false shuffling or dealing. Under other circumstances riffle stacking skills may be enough to get the money. It just depends. It's a bit like saying "I have learned to use a hammer. Should I learn to use a screwdriver?". It all depends on what you want to do with it. For magic, false dealing, in my opinion, is a lot more valuable than riffle stacking. Culling is also useful in magic. In gambling, each of those tools has a different purpose. In some situations some are pricelss, in other's the same technique may be useless. It's up to you how far you want to take your skill. Also, even though you didn't ask...if you are going to be using your techniques to cheat at cards, I suggest you learn the secondary skills that can also come in handy. These including splinting a bone, making a tourniquet, and some other basic, but emergency first aid. Stay safe. |

One hour a day practicing? I'm afraid you have no idea about the huge amount of time necessary to get a perfect move...
Just to give you an example, many here find my SD beautiful. I just can add it must be pretty decent as I've never been caught, even during true play. Yet, I find it so-so and I practice it 1h-1h15 each and every day. There's stacking training to. And other moves. One hour per day is nothing!!! And I'm just a learned amateur, ask guys like Z, SF or DocJon what one hour of practice is, lol. Riffle stacking won't got you rid of the need of false dealing. You need to SD once in a while, for example when you wanna use short riffle sequences only. I mean, if you wanna RRSRC only, you'll have to "fix" some cases using one SD or two. Of course, if you RRSRRC or RRRSRRRC or [x]RS[R]C you can avoid SD... SD allows you to stack fast and to fix only a few cases. There's a huge difference between being able to do a move and perform it perfectly. Perfection requires a never ending practice. Many years of experience are necessary to learn true play psychology, to "feel" stuff, to understand people. Whether you're good, gifted or able to practice 10h/day, experience will require years of practice, play and knowledge. Keep practicing, improving and don't be afraid to learn every day. |
