Well, I'm putting the finishing touches on the show I'm working on. It will be a 45-60 minute routine, generally played for fundraisers, assisted living facilities, churches and such. The overarching theme is of a magician that's always a little short of money. Lots of duct tape and cardboard. All the illusions work, but maybe not in the way that was intended/expected. Not a "magician in trouble" routine. Any thoughts? How bout a show title? Any suggestions?

I've done a lot of effects of the 'fumbling magcician' that magic somehow saves me from myself variety -- always well received -- but I am careful never to reveal method.

Quote: I don't want to waste time on semantics, but are you sure it will be a 45 minute routine, rather than an act with multiple routines in it? If it is the first, it would be hard to keep an audience's attention consistently.

Okay, yeah it's semantics, but I'm usually big on semantics. It's an act with multiple routines. See it's the little things that bring me here.

I'm sure you already have a good opener/entrance but if not here's an idea:
You enter dressed "to the nines" (top hat, tails etc.) to some fancy music. Then the music becomes frantic and you begin to hear a chaotic voice-over the sounds like newspaper headlines and news reports. "The stock market went down today...jobs are being lost at an astonishing rate...this IS a recession..." As this is happening your actions become frantic and confused. You proceed to do a costume change into a slightly less formal, slightly tattered costume. Just an idea... |

Once did a show using only toilet paper as Charmin the Great. Don't even have to bring supplies. Just pick them up in RR prior to the show.
