I'm recently having great fun with Martin Nash's Fast Stack in BoF I. It's the fastest and easiest to remember stack I've seen, and can be applied to various poker deal routines.
So many gems in the volumes. Really hope Vol. 2 will be reprinted... |

I only own the first volume but I like "Tilt Sandwich Location" (Lorayne), "A Card To Remember" (Lorayne), "Inter-Dimension" (Taytelbaum), "Mutual Aid Sandwich" (Racherbaumer) & "Conglomer-ACE-tion (Marshall).

Do you perform this close up or on stage with a projection screen?

I know it's an old thread, but I have a question about the trick "Guess Quotient"
I really love the idea, but the way I see it, the trick cannot work 100% of the time... Two examples: a) If the spectator call a "match" on the first 3 cards and a "no-match" on the 4th one, it will fail. (The 4th card will match!) b) Same thing in this situation: If the spectator call "match" for the first 2 cards, a "no match" for the card 3,4 and 5 and a "no-match" for the 6 one it will fail... (6 card will match) So with all the praise I saw on this thread about this trick, maybe I do something wrong... Any thought? Thank you. |

I mean the first phase when you "shuffle" the cards two by two and then one by one (Ch*****r Shuffle does not matter as long as it's done correctly)? I'm asking, cos the very first time I tried it, I did things the other way round and did not work. mlippo |

I am sure my starting position is correct. You can try by yourself.
Each time a spectator call three match in a row following by a no-match it will fail... So I guess everyone was a little bit lucky with this one ;-) |

I confirmed that Skyker is correct. However, even in these worst case scenarios all but one "guess" is correct, which is still impressive. To reduce the likelihood of this happening, one could start with 5 four of a kinds and deal out 9 cards instead of 7. Then the spectator would have to say "no match" 4 times in a row for this to happen. (Saying "no match" 3 times in a row must be unlikely, else we would have heard about this anomaly before.)

Then I must be doubly blessed because I just went through the two scenarios described and the effect worked. It has never failed. I realize Skyker that someone else confirmed your scenarios but, nonetheless, the effect worked given your conditions. I have performed this effect hundreds of times in a regualt cabaret gig I had six years ago, about ten times a night, six nights a week and it never failed.

I just heard about this - it's never happened to me. Interesting, and I must have done the thing literally thousands of times. Anyway, simple solution: If you know, for example, that three "no matches" in a row is a problem - when the specator has done that twice - simply say "I'll help you a bit here - this one is a match." And contiue. Hope I've explained this correctly. HL.

Vlad, you must have done something wrong. (In my prior post, "no match" should have been "match". It's 3 "matches" in a row that causes a potential problem.)

Vlad, if the spectator call 3 match in a row followed by a no-match call it will always fail, but the chance of this happening is obviously pretty low.
Harry, I love your solution! Great tip from an experienced performer. I think the Five set solution could also be great combined with the harry solution. Thank you all for your input. |
