I think the search is fine the way it is. And I enjoy reading about new products. They vanish by themselves in a few days anyway if not read.
I also like the 'I want to see the manager' section because I learn new things, but it seems once a week someone has an issue with either of these subjects, even though the questions have been answered numerous times. Thanks for a great forum site!

You are very welcome.
I believe that one of the reasons you constantly see many of the same questions or complaints is that many people have never actually read the Rules and Policies which they themselves agreed to follow when they joined the Café. I often wonder how many of these folks sign contracts without ever having read that which they are signing.

Steve,
cant you just make it so we can delete the PM without opening it??? it would make everyone happy imho.... if you want to read it its there and can benefit those it should benefit.... if its a product that we already know we don't want then we could easily delete it....makes a lot of sense to me.......... |

Maybe the search engine question and the PM piece could go into FAQ's as well to stop them coming up in this section so frequently.
Okay, few people seem to read the rules but maybe there is more chance of them looking under FAQ's before asking the same old question in here. |

If the members won't read the rules, which is a specific forum discussing everything, they won't read the FAQ section either. The FAQ's simply quote what is in the rules. The problem is that it's easier to just ask a question than to take a little initiative and look for the answer. You don't need the search engine to scroll through either the manager forum or the tech forum looking for topic titles.

How about a sticky in the manager forum explaining the search engine situation?
Using the search engine to inquire about the search engine strikes me as funny somehow. |

Sticky topics aren't read either. I didn't say to use the search engine to inquire about the searc engine. I said you could quickly scroll through recent manager and tech forum topics for titles about the search.
