I am thinking of purchasing the floating finger.
What would be the largest audience that I can use this effect for? Martini |

Actually, Geoff Williams performed this for an audience of magicians in September of about 200. It probably depends the size of the house and sight lines, but I'm guessing if they can distinguish your real fingers they can make out the floating one.
Wm, There is an effect out there that takes the floating finger optical illusion and makes it real. It is actually pretty impressive. See Sausage Finger Illusion here: http://themagiccompany.com/cat_main.html

I purcahsed Michael Baker's "Finger Sausage" a few months ago, and it always plays well when I am doing close-up. It gets everyone around you involved, and can have a very funny climax, depending on how you play it out.
For the benefit of Fabrice, the trick is based on an old optical illusion effect that most children have read about in science or joke books. Take your two index fingers (that would be one index finger from each hand for those having trouble follwing along !) and hold them tip to tip. Focus your eyes in the center where the two fingers are touching. Now slowly pull them apart, and you will see a tiny finger floating between your two index fingers. Michael's effect adds a prop which can take this simple optical trick and turn it into a very funny routine.... :) Mark

You guys are doing such a good job that there may not be much I can add!
I did this in a high school concert hall the other day for about 300 students. Geoff Williams is using this in his lectures now, and it apparently just did very well in Australia. He will be going to England this month and will introduce it to that market. Geoff's outstanding handling of this trick is now in the instructions that come with the trick. You can get them directly from me via the link shown above, or if you catch one of Geoff's lectures, you can get it from him. ~michael
