When I first moved to agent a few years, I contacted an agent who was VERY quick to put me up for gigs. Problem is, the requests for quote she'd send were as follows
Quote:
Looking for 1 Magician $200 And 1 Face painter $70-90 For gig in carlton on 22nd November 2pm-3pm I called her and explained my fees START at $500 and emailed her a price list. Also, I don't paint faces. Quote:
Looking for good adult magician for xmas party in City on Dec 5th. under $500 I'd call and explain and call and explain but the requests kept coming. Quote:
Wanting I can't even draw! So I just started ignoring her. I have sent her an email or phoned since January. In those ten months she has sent me 43 different requests for quotes. Not one would I have done and not one have I responded to. Yet she STILL keeps sending the emails! How long until she cottons on and just gives up? |

You can tell her to remove you from her email list, and that if she continues you will report her emails as SPAM. Or...this is a lot more devious....book a few shows with her and not show up. Personally, I wouldn't do that, but it's a way to get her to stop!! ;-)

Yep, I would put her email address on my spam list.

Is it possible you are on her database list, and she just sends out a mass email to all of her possible entertainers, for every job, hoping for a bite from a few? That would explain her behavior somewhat. She is taking a shotgun approach to finding an entertainer.
Call and ask her to remove you from her email / database. - Donald

Donald - I think you've hit the nail on the head! She just sends the email to everyone on her book and the quickest/cheapest person gets the gig.

Sounds like the kind of agent you want to RUN AWAY from.
I would definitely ask her to remove you from her email list, instead of adding it to your spam folder. I believe it is important to stand up and be recognized as a class above in the eyes of meeting planners and agents when it is called for. It sets you apart with the concept being that when she is indeed looking for a higher priced entertainer, she will keep you in mind. The vibe I am getting from her though is that she will never really be looking for a higher end entertainer |
