I have one of the old "Sphere Play" videos, which isn't that bad, and I have a book somewhere, can't remember the title of it though. I think that Dube and Renagade Juggling carrys some of that stuff.

I think most CJ dvd's lack detail in intructions. The famous Contact Juggling dvd's by Greg Maldonado and Owen Edson are very good, but they go over moves really fast. They don't point out a lot of details that can make the moves a bit easier to learn.
I think the first Matt Olsen dvd is very good for a beginning contact juggler. it may not be so dynamic and flashy as the beforementioned dvd, but Olsen is a good teacher and does go into detail about moves. On youtube there are a lot of good tutorials. Look for a user named Brinechild and look up his Contact Lesson clips. They are very good. I would suggest to start with a basic butterfly. Learn it with both hands! Very important, you're gonna regret it later if you didn't do that in the first place (like me ;-)). While you are practising your butterfly you can work on your palm to palm transfer and back to back tranfer as well. From there go into back to palm and palm to back transfer. That should provide you with a solid basis. If all these technical terms sound like Arabic to you, go to http://www.contactjuggling.org and look up the definitions and the movies that come with it. It is a very helpful site. I would also start with gripped isolations and from the beginning work on your palm circle isolations (again for definitions go to contactjuggling.org or youtube). You should have enough to go by, good luck! |
