Does anyone use money origami in their tricks?

Dear othelo68,
Yes, I do Pat Page's Easy Money and when I'm done I take one of the bills (the pre-folded one) put the others in my pocket and very quickly fold an elephant. It's not exactly a magical use of the origami yet. I am working on a couple of ways to more fully integrate the origami into the magic but I'm not happy with them yet. Interesting thread. I'm hoping someone else has some work on this they might share. -Mary Mowder |

Daniel Garcia has an effect where a bill "folds itself" into a butterfly and then appears to come to life by flapping its wings. Its a really cool effect. If you want to check it out, its on his Loops DVD sold by Ellusionist.
I am looking to buy Pressley Guitar items in good condition. Send me a PM for details.

There is also the Bunny Bill, which I believe was released by Magic Inc, of Chicago. A bill is folded into a hat, and a bunny appears from inside the hat. It looks really great when done correctly, and is a great souvenir to give away.

Bunny Bill is also Robert Neale's.
that's how it's spelled on my manuscript. I guess it's the same guy otherwise it's a big coincidence. -Mary Mowder |

Two great resources:
- Bob Neale's book, "Folding Money Fooling" - Sterling Dare's 2-DVD set, "Money Menagerie" (also a book, if you can still find it) |

I'm not sure if I would classify it as "origami", but the Wonderland Bill is an interesting effect where the bill seems to reverse its front for its back while the spectator holds onto a cut flap in the bill. This is taught by Neale; variations of it are found in Underground Magic (Penguin), and Einhorn's "200 easy to learn magical illusions amazsing puzzles & stunning stunts"
I do this at street fairs with an oversized $100 bill and when it catches peoples eye, I say "what's in your wallet", or "can you and this much money?". If they pause, I then go into my presentation of the effect. John
