I have this and think it's very nice, however, on a few of the video's I see the performer moving the deck while the card is floating. I don't think that should ever be done because if the card was really floating, it would not follow the deck wherever it moves. I think that's a giveaway that the card is somehow attached to the pack, even though nothing can be seen. If you remove the top card to show no connnection, you should, logically, be able to move the deck and the card remains suspended and still in mid-air.

Remember Lubor Fiedler's Floating Rock from Tenyo? One of the strong points of that floating was that you moved the frame undereneath the rock and the rock remained suspended and did not move with the frame. It was really a strong illusion and showed no connection between the floating rock and the surface underneath it.

I think it looks good; I just don't think the pack should be moved at all while the card is floating.

I tottaly agree with you. When I saw that ambitious card/levitsation video I cringed because he moved the deck up and the card stayed the same distance away from the pack. If the card floated off the deck and you move the deck up, the card should stay still.

I don't move the deck in my video on the first page of this thread.

Just received this and tried it out on my family, individually. All three of them bent down to try and look in the gap so one to watch for in performance.

My wife also suggested waving the card behind the deck, to prove that there's nothing attached between your body and the deck.

Overall, first trials are pretty impressive so I will try it out at my wedding gig on Saturday.

Martin, try holding the deck at around waist level which would mean they would have to bend down further to look under and therefore you would have enough time to lower the floating card just as they are bending.

Also in certain dim ligting enviroments and whilst wearing a light colored shirt, the gimmick is invisible.

Man...first day of the year and I already lost all budget restraint! After reading all the posts I have to say, this will be one of my next Tenyo buys!
Thanks for all the support too Angelo.

Mine arrived today. Very good effect, Creative thinking Smile
I do have to practice to make it all look smooth, as usual. The gimmick is indeed (as good as) invisible depending on the lightning situation (little bit dimmed), and the color of your clothing (light)

Nice!

Yes Steven you are correct. The lighter the clothing/background the more invisible the gimmick will be if someone were to look under.

Today I did my first performance with the Floating Card.

It was outside, it was becoming dark. I was standing next to a streetlight with 2 spectators. So it was kind of a mysterious feeling hanging around. So I did the standard routine with a 'mysterious touch (as in mysterious style)'. And at the point that the card was floating at max. height both of the spectators started to bend down to look under the card (cards where at waist level as Angelo advised), so I slowly made the card float back to the original position . But I did it too slow and both of the spectators got a pretty good view under the card. But... They saw NOTHING. That freak them out. That and as soon as the card falled back on the deck I immediatly handed it to them. And then the deck too (yes)! Undetectable.

Amazing

I received Angelo Carbone's new Tenyo trick 2010 FLOATING CARD today from Japan.

I just opened the small parcel and read the instruction but I already know that this
is the best floating card I have every bought!
You will receive the typical Tenyo instruction, the gimmick and an original sealed Bicycle deck of cards in blue.

Angelo, thanks for the great idea!

I just opened mine today....I totally agree, this is the best floating card I have ever purchased. I can't wait to show this one off!!

I have to agree; this is really quite clever. Exactly what I've come to expect from the mind of Mr. Carbone.

I received mine today (the Japanese version with the smaller 's****', as mentioned before).

First I would like to mention that I am a collector of magic tricks and I rarely perform them. Nonetheless, when someone asks to perform a trick, I usually do, that is when I remember how it works and , most important, what the pattern/story is.

I must say I am VERY impressed with this trick from Mr. Carbone. I knew 'something' about it before I had it in my hands (everyone with some knowledge of magic knows that the card floats because blablablablo Smile )
However, I never thought the mechanism would be that special, clever and actually that complicated.

The technique by which this trick works is so clever and at the same time so 'well known/normal' that it is actually impossible to figure out ... .

Angelo, your Prison Box is still my favourite Tenyo item, however this one comes close. The reason why Prison Box is still on number 1 is because Prison Box is easier to perform.

After 'adjusting' the 'trick' I think I will have a real winner with Floating Card Smile

I will perform the trick (after, actually a lot, of excercise ... Smile ) next week to my students (I am a science teacher): 15 - 16 year old. This is, for me, the 'test of all tests' Smile

I'll give you a summary next week Smile

Hello!

I hope you made the s**** larger. It really does help.

Make sure you are wearing light colored clothing if you are going to perform to your students especially if they will be at a distant and can see under it.

Also start to rise it only a little to see which student will try to look under first. Make sure also not to move the deck at all when the card floats or they will realise the independant card and deck are connected.

Let me know how it goes. I am curious Smile

What is the difficulty level? Easy enough for us hobbyists doing pretty easy magic for family and friends?

Hi Angelo, I recieved your trick from my german dealer and I´m very happy with it. I wrote a review for a
german community (zauberschrank-forum.de) and posted a clip of me, performing the floating card. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyuE1ewGMbo
Two days ago we tested it in a italian restaurant in Berlin and got free drinks for it!! So, thank you for your great job.

Sincerly, Clemens

Wow! You have a very good presentation. So smooth and calm that it makes for a different feel to the trick. Very magical.

If you don't mind me making one point - I don't think you have to work too hard to show off both sides of the cards. It looks suspicious when you flip them over multiple times. But that is honestly not that big of a deal. I loved how you did the trick. Excellent!

Hi Mark,

thank you very much. I´m happy that you like my presentation. You are right, a little bit too much of showing both sides of the deck. But sometimes you don´t realize those facts during the presentation. When I perform the trick for a live audience I normaly talk during this showing. So I think it is not too suspicious in those live conditions.

That's true. Also live they can see that the card is actually freely chosen from a normal deck.... which is the strength of the trick. I just think that the way you made the card rise so slowly is fantastic and very mysterious.
