Hi Everyone
I'm Kelz (obviously) I'm 19 and hail from Queensland Australia. I've always had an interest in magic but only started learning a couple of months ago. I've been learning the basics wherever I can and I have recently been tryig to figure tricks out myself, but m fingers seem to be rather disobedient, I need to work on the dexterity of my right hand especially. I'm doing mostly card tricks at the moment but I want to expand into other things, I'd really like to give fire eating a go as well. Anyway that's me |

Welcome Kelz,
Don't worry about the dexterity. If you do the sort of things that require dexterity it will come. Don't think that dexterity in one area is readily transferable to everything else. You almost start over with each new thing but as you gain skill the learning curve becomes faster. I was known for being clumsy with my hands as a kid but magic has really helped. It can help to mirror your hand movements to teach your weak hand. Try to enjoy the first time you see a magic effect and don't try to figure it out till later. All to soon you'll think fondly of the days when you could just see magic as a normal lay person. Hold on to it as long as you can. -Mary Mowder |

G'day Kelz
Troppo Bob here from Crescent Head, New South Wales. Welcome to the Magic Café, this is a great place to gain encouragement as you develop you skills in magic performance. Depending on where you are in sunny Qld you may be able to link up with a magic club - I am pretty sure there is at least one in the Brisbane or Gold Coast area. What effects are you currently working on? Fire eating sounds pretty hot. All the best. Bob Latta (aka Troppo Bob) |

Thanks for the welcomes guys.
I definitely still enjoy magic, and still have the "OMG how did they do that!?" reraction alot. I really like being able to appreciate the effects in a different way once you know how they are done as well. I'm about an hour from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, I'll have to have a search from some local clubs. I recently showed my best mate some Penn & Teller routines that she loved and jokingly I said we should do a cosplay as them (we are into costuming and are working on full predator costumes for Supanova pop culture expo next year)and she jumped at the idea and wants to do it in April next year. So I am currently going through their Cups and Balls, The Card Knifing trick (where Teller stabs Penn through the hand), The Bee Production Trick and Teller's Silverfish and a couple of others to show her what she would need to learn in order to pull it off. Of course it's all just how I personally would do it, it's probably a million miles off how it is actualy done. Other than that I am working on several little sleights and false shuffles and things. Oh and Miser's Dream, I've loved that effect ever since I was a kid |
