A local T.V. Station in my town has a show that features artists in the community (both visual, dramatic and performance), and they want to film an episode featuring me. Since it is local, and it is run by a bigger cable company, they are not concerned so much with meeting 30 minute or 1hr deadlines, so generally the show runs from about 10mins to 1 hour.

I want to make the show last as long as possible, without getting boring, so people watch. Being my first time featured on T.V. (I have been on t.v. performing, but never actually featured) I was hoping magicians who are used to being on camera could review my 'game plan'.

1. There is an interview with the host. That usually lasts anywhere from 5-7 minutes. So that is a given.

2. I am SURE the host is going to want to see some magic. So I am thinking about performing of Reconstruction by Jay Sankey (Except it will be my own version of the effect) And then, if I am going to do 1 more, I think it would be Diplopia by Paul Vigil. These 2 effects (or 1 of the two) will be JUST for the host.

3. Then I want some footage of Street Magic. Where just myself and producer (who films the show) will go out and do some street magic. I want about 10-15 minutes of footage, then it can be edited to however much they need. As far as Street Magic goes, I am thinking about: Pressure, Interlace (w/ flash paper), A book test (at a Library, with filming permissions, of course), My presentation of the Himber Ring. For Pressure, Interlace and the Himber Ring, I would do it for multiple people, and the editor can edit together the footage, to get reactions from different people.

4. I will contact a client who has hired me for a 'stage' type of show, and ask permission if a camera crew comes to film it for T.V., and get written permission, and all the contracts etc. And use footage of the show, probably the effects that play good for T.V. I am thinking: My Misers Dream Routine, Touching on Hoy (By Luke Jermay, GREAT effect), Vanishing Coke Bottle (similar to the vanishing ketchup bottle gag), Magazine Test (Osterlind), and since it will be filmed around XMas, maybe I should do a "D'Light from Christmas Tree Lights Routine"

Now this is not NEARLY set-in-stone. Like I said, it is my first feature Television Appearance. So perhaps the seasoned T.V. Magicians can give me some pointers. Stuff I should get rid of? Suggestions of things to add? T.V. Interviewing Tips + Talking to the host?

If you have ANY helpful information regarding the Television Magic Process, I am all ears!
Thank you
