How to Set-Up StackView

Here is the real deal for setting up StackView.

Once you have chosen your deck, click on the Tools Menu at the top of the screen. Then click on StackView Test. Don’t even worry about the Advanced Test for now.

This will be our Main Window to learn our stack. But, if you have made a list of your own special code/peg words for the numbers and the cards, there will be one more step.

Also in the Tools Menu, click on Custom Mnemonics. This will bring up a new window that shows all of the code/peg words for the deck you have chosen. You now have the option to enter YOUR personal code/peg words for both the stack numbers and the card values. This is a powerful tool that customizes the Aronson, or any other stack, to your own personal tastes. Whatever you do, DO NOT click on “Restore Aronson Default” in the bottom left corner of this window!

While your mnemonics window is still showing on your screen, click on the File Menu at the top left of the screen. Then click on: Save Mnemonic As. You will need to come up with a name for your custom mnemonic. My name is Ray, so I used RayzArronsonStack.
Lastly, before leaving this screen, click again on the File Menu and click on: Save Mnemonic as Default. Now, every time you open the program, you are set to go directly into drills and learning mode.

A word of warning: We have all lost valuable data in the past do to our own mistakes and a crashing hard drive. BACK UP YOUR VALUABLE INFORMATION. I saved my own custom mnemonics file to a CD. That way when poo-poo happens, I don’t have to type the whole thing in again.
