There is a company called DOTCOM CHROME who are currently calling magicians all over the world offering to help with their AdWords Campaigns.
Here's what the salesman tells you: 1 - They guarantee to get your ads of the front page of google's sponsored links within 48 hours. 2 - They offer an "unlimited clicks" fixed price system. (Normally, once enough people click on your ad to use up your daily budget, your ad stops displaying for the day). This company claims your ad will continue to show no matter how many people click on it. 3 - They offer a one month trial of their program, which includes constant monitoring of your ad and SEO for your site free. 4 - They guarantee that you will be the only magician in your area contacted so no other magicians will be offered this fixed price ad campaign 5 - They don't actually say the name of their company, rather they say say "Google" and "Chrome" a lot, so you'll think you're talking to a rep from Google. 6 - They let you choose the key phrases you want your ad to appear under. REALITY. 1 - Yes, they will get you on the front page of google within 48 hours. Anyone can do this by opening a google AdWords campaign and choosing less popular of very specific key phrases. 2 - The unlimited clicks is a lie. Once they send you their "terms of service" they mention there will be times when you won't be able to see your ad, and give several bogus reasons as to why that may occur. (Real reason, they are merely running a standard AdWords campaign for you - worth $60 a month, charging you $260 a month). 3 - The one month trial of the program is not free (as implied) but costs $260. However, unless you cancel it in writing they will continue to rebill your credit card every month. And many customers report that Dotcom Chrome simply "doesn't receive" the cancellation letters. 4 - They contact anyone and everyone in your area and will continue to do so, so please warn your colleagues. It's MUCH cheaper to run your own AdWords Campaign. 5 - If you google search DotCom Chrome, you'll find an incredibly dofgy company with a lot of irate customers. (That's the other reason why they don't tell you the name of their company until after you sign up). 6 - You can choose the key phrases, but when you sign up they won't use them. Instead they'll use phrases their "software" tells them are more effective. People need to type in these exact phrases to see your ad. They refer to your original key phrases as "poor choices". Plus, they will create an ad for you which you may not like - bad luck - they know best. If that's not enough to make you wary of this company, take a look at their customer support (which is actually the opposite of support). You will not get a response if you ask sensible questions, despite their claim of getting back to you immediately. The only way you'll get a response is if you say you're going to cancel your contract. Then they respond with abuse (see example below). "I believe our salesman told you every day for one month, did you take this to mean 24/7? If so perhaps you should have queried it at the time because it could mean once per day for one month." "Instead of dressing up like a clown all year for little or no money why don’t you run AdWords campaigns for people and make some good returns as our bosses obviously do instead of making a fool of yourself all year? Just a thought" "dotcom chrome employee the best AdWords guys in the business and I’m one of them, it will be a dark day in hell when I kiss a clowns bottom"

Yes, they call from the UK. They have "offices" (serviced offices forwarding their mail) all over the world but their call centre is in Manchester.

I"m over here in Perth, and received a call last Friday from this company with the exact thing you're talking about Tim. Very pushy on the phone as well.
Thanks so much for the heads up. I was also called by another Brisbane based company on the same day and received a follow up call yesterday as well. http://www.futurestudios.com.au is their site name. Thanks for the heads up. JoJo

That's funny Jojo, the salesman told me they had "sold" the Perth area, so that was now unavailable, but later in an email I was told
"We have a waiting list in Perth for our marketing campaigns, "

This is the latest in a stream of abusive emails from Dotcom Chrome to me:
"Is this the same Tim Ellis that was sued for touching my friends aunties child at a party? I think I may need to post something online just incase it is and get the post on page 1 of Google under your company name. Better safe than sorry and all that"

MMMMMMM..........Tim that sounds very nasty indeed. I'm glad I didn't get into too much with them over the phone. At the time I was attending a wedding party of a relative and couldn't talk to them too much.
For me when I realised they were in the UK, that sent up red flags. I'm not ready to send my $$ overseas for something I don't have control over. Hope the nasty stuff ends for you. JoJo

The sad fact is if someone wants to post vile stuff about you on the web using blogger or some other free hosted service, you have to jump through enormous hoops to get rid of it.
If there's a Better Biz Bureau or something equivalent to complain to, this would be a great email to forward. What a load of crap. --Jack

Just went and looked up the dotcom-chrome company.. WOW what a badly SEO'd site
it was done correctly for like 10 years ago.. NONE of the basics have been done to this site... 1. Title tag.. this is the blue text that shows in search results,, they have a bad one 2. the keyword and description meta tag is the EXACT same.. umm RED Flag Also with Googles SideWiki you could post your concerns about them on their website so anyone with Google toolbar installed will see it when they goto the site
its ok.. balloon dogs don't bite
