Hello Cameron,
With all the Marketing Courses for magicians being offered, do YOU have any thoughts on the subject? You obviously have a name for yourself in your acting career as well as a magical entertainer. (that certainly helps I'm sure) Many people on these boards have the chops as well as people skills but just don't know how to effectively market themselves. What are some key points you would advise?........Thanks for taking the time to share. David Paul

Hi, David,
Good question. Although I don't know how much advice I can really give on the subject. I don't consider myself a particularly terrific business person and I've never taken a marketing class (although in hind sight I wish I had in college). It took me a looong time to "get" the business side of the entertainment business. I have never been especially good at it but I have gotten better over the years. A lot of time we as artists just want to be artists and don't want to deal with hustling for work. We think that talent alone will get us where we want to be. But, the truth is, if you want to work, you have to learn how to find work. It's not glamorous and it's not always fun but if you want to make money, you have to do it. The one piece of advice I would give is network as much as possible. Take advantage of every performance opportunity. Also, don't burn any bridges. Big mistake in an industry as small as the entertainment industry.
