Poor magic has little to do with the age of the audience, venue, or length of the show.

Kurt Vonnegut gave this advice for the art of writing that could be applied to the art of magic: "Use the time of a total stranger in such a way that he or she will not feel that time has been wasted." He also said the key to good writing is "development," and that anything not advancing the narrative should be ruthlessly cut out. What is your magic narrative?
