I'm looking on effects, or source, with the Si Stebbin which use his properties, or rosary effects. I've found some (Stewart James, Nick Trost...).
By the way, is there some poker demonstration (other from the 2 on bottom)?... I've read somewhere that Gene Anderson have some interesting works with Si Stebbins, where can it be found? Thank you |

Hi Ricardo.... It may look like your questions are being ignored, but that is not the case. This subject has been discussed in detail many times over the years.
At the top of the page, you will see a small white window labeled: Café Quicksearch. I just now typed in "Stebbins". The search engine produced 49 pages, with 1220 posts! I know it will take some time to scan through them. If you do this, I'm sure that your questions will be answered, and you will pick up much more along the way. If you can do Faro shuffles, you can even do some things with the Si Stebbins stack that can't be done with most memorized decks. |

Thank you memdeck, you are right, but infortunately I've done the research and don't finded what I'm looking for.
Maybe my question was not good... So I reformulate: 1 - Where can I find the routine of Gene Anderson with a Si Stebbins? What is this routine (the theme, the script?) 2- Are they some creators who are or have been particulary involved with Si Stebbins or Rosary Decks, and have produced non conventional work, have pushed "the limits"? Even in slights displacements of the stack... Thank you |

Hi again Ricardo. You can buy Gene Anderson's complete Si Stebbins routine directly from his website for $10 at:
http://www.geneanderson.com/sistebbins.html You can order "Si Stebbins Unplugged" for $6.95 here: http://www.trickshop.com/stebbins.html Both of these resources were found with a 2 minute Google search..... I have the Unplugged eBook. It has plenty of ideas for this setup. |

"Si Stebbins Pro" uses a slightly different setup to disguise the alternating suits. Here is the link:
http://www.lybrary.com/si-stebbins-pro-p-4180.html Like many others in this section of the forum, I started out with a cyclical arrangement. Later on, you may wish to "graduate" to a real memorized deck. |

It's been silent in this section of the forum for 5 days!
There are some interesting ideas for the Si Stebbins stack in Benjamin Earl's "Past Midnight" DVD trilogy. This is a fantastic set of DVDs containing several super-duper false shuffles, false cuts, and many routines that I will use. Several of the effects use various set-ups/stacks. |

I think that the Gene Anderson Routine with a Si Stebbins stack is superb. But then I'm a good friend of Genes and have seen him do it often. I even helped him select the ending he uses. Buy it. It may be the best $10.00 you've spent in magic.
I use the routine myself, but I use a mem-deck (Aronson Stack) instead of the Stebbins. It makes naming the card at any number and calling the position in the deck of any named card much easier in performance. (Assuming you have mastered your mem-deck.) But even if you plan to do this, get Gene's booklet to see the structure of the routine and learn Gene's presentation. Dennis Loomis Slight quibble about terminology. While the SS stack is a "rosary" or endless chain, this quality is not limited to the SS stack. The 8 Kings stack and all other such doggerel stacks are rosaries. So are all memdecks, and most any full deck stack. All the term "rosary" suggests is that a single cut of the deck does not destroy the stack. Even if the stack has a starting point which mem-decks do and SS doesn't, a single cut by the performer can bring the stack right back to "home" position. Dennis Loomis P. S. If you want a great trick for the SS stack, try doing Mike Close's Guatamalan Miracle. You can get it on Mike's Web Site.

You're right Dennis. Is the correct word "tetradisdik...", or something like that.
It's the way Alan Akerman say that, isn't it? thanks for the tips. |

No, the Tetradistik stack is quite different from the SS. I don't know of a general name for the Si Stebbins and other related stacks. Sorry. I know that the Eight Kings Stack and others of that kind are called doggerel stacks. Perhaps some of the other folks on the Café will jump in and help us.

Si Stebbins, Eight Kings and all the mem decks are "cyclish" decks. They have no beginning and no end.

They call it "sequential stacks" too.

Yes, in the Joyal's Book, it is a sequential stack.
ps: what is fascinating with the SS system is all the periods contained: 2 periods of 26 (matched set up) 4 periods of 13 (sequence = 13) 26 periods of 2 (red and black alternation) 13 periods of 4 (colours in cyclical order) Aesthetically, it's a beauty. |

Jim Swain published some very magical routine using the ss stack. You might want to check them out.

Nick Trost published some great effects with the SS stack. Check out his Automatic Lie Speller from his first book. Great effect.

That's right Dennis, I almost forgot. I bought Nick Trost's Lie Detector as a manuscript from Herb Morrissey years ago. Amazing and so much fun to do.

Stewart James has some great Si effects as does Alan Slaight. Max Maven also published a variation of a Stewart James effect called Mystery Spiel if I'm not mistaken that is really good.
