Well, not yet. I had the Cochlear Impant surgery a couple of weeks ago as already being discussed in the below thread (I may not be deaf much longer):
http://themagiccafe.com/forums/viewtopic......forum=32 But my activation day is just a couple of weeks away. So I wanted to start another thread. Not about my progress of getting then implant. Here I want to share my experience as I happens. On December 22, just a little over 2 weeks away. I'll go in and get the external part to my implant. They'll put it on me, hook it up to a computer and adjust it to my hearing needs. This is when I'll begin to be able to hear again. When this day happens I'll come here and share what it was like for me to be able to hear for the first time in almost 20 years. I'll share what sounds I heard that day and I'll come back and share what new sounds I experience over the next few months. I know that at first I'll be able to hear "Sounds". Speech and music will take some work though. I'll still be considered "deaf" but I can add "Can hear some sounds when aided by my implant" to that description of my hearing condition. As time goes by I might be able to understand speech and maybe even be able to distinguish sounds enough to experience music to some degree. So I'm sure it's going to be a wild ride and I'll kind of bring you all along my journey back to the world of sound. I'm also planning on video taping my activation day and post it so you'll be able to see me hear for the first time. Until then you can Click here and watch some videos of other peoples activation days to get an idea what I'll be going through. Below are a few activation day videos I particularly like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWe6iJmHKUE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nH0RT7R4X8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFBUNJtT39Y So come with my on my journey. Hear ya Later Ron Jaxon |

I'm really glad for you Jax. Sincerely hope everything goes OK.
Here's an article about a young man from my area. http://deaftimes.net/index.php/news/article/59813/ I saw the show and it was great to see when the implant began working. Best, Jaz |

Just got some mail the other day and found out my activation day is a day earlier then I thought it was. It's on the 21 instead of the 22.
What got me confused is I have appointments on both days. The 21 I get turned on and the fallowing day I have two more appointments to run some tests. Kind of a pain to have to make that 2 hour drive in Michigan snow but I'm sure it'll be worth it. So 5 more days to go. Ron Jaxon |
