A minister at a neighborhood Methodist church has the children come up form their study class one Sunday each month. They dash around with little buckets and collect "spare change." Then they run to the front and pour the coins 'produced' into a huge jar. The noise is almost deafening, but the fun and amounts collected most magical. Naturally, the proceeds are all used for children's activities.

What a great idea for a routine with that effect. Tell "a story from childhood" about doing that. You then act out the part of a child going to "different people" and "getting coins" and saying, "Thank You Mr. Jones....God Bless you Widow Smith...much appreciated Miss Sally..." and so on.
You could do it in the audience in a small crowd. And if you really wanted to play it up...use half dollar sized pennies...though that could get a bit expensive.
