I think this is very well made and also comes with a bang ring. Others I believe do not have a bang ring included.
Just try that’s all you can do , never give up .

In general, Johnson's products are very well made and do the job quite splendidly. Love all their coins as they are always affordable and great quality.

Great thanks. I think I will order from Johnson website.I still have Silver Extraction, an Okito Box , and somewhere unless it was lost a cigarette through quarter. I remember having a cheaper version and using a glass as a bang ring.

I've had mine dime & penny Johnson for over 20 years with no problems.I never used a ban ring just a plastic cup to get the coins apart.Over time you might have
to clean the copper with white vinegar & salt,it makes the copper coins look new.

Paul K,
Whats the ratio of salt and vinegar? Do you just soak it in the mixture. Please let me know

Does anyone know how Roy Kueppers Dime and Penny compares to Johnsons. I need to get a good quality set for a new routine I am working on. They are both the same price, I would appreciate any information anyone can give.

Thank you,
Brian

Hi Brian, I own Roy's and it is excellent quality. It does not come with a bang ring however.

I've never used the bang ring for my Dime to Penny; the gaff separates quite easily in a plastic cup with only a couple of shakes. I have some larger locking sets (not Johnson) that require the bang ring and some serious banging! But the Dime and Penny come apart very easily.

All in all though, you should probably purchase the Johnson. It will serve you well for a long time and you won't have any "what if" or "should haves" haunt you later on!

BTW, careful with using vinegar on it. Gaffs are often clad to cover cut/lathe tooling marks and corrosives can ruin them. I lost an entire "hung, Drawn, & Quartered" coin set from Mark Mason that way! What is safe to use on real coins doesn’t always go as well on gaffed coins.
