This is a review of "Ron Dayton's Historic Hung Up On Ropes Lecture"...$25 from

http://www.leapinglizardsmagic.com/csspa......edvd.htm .

The ad at that link is 100% accurate and honest.

I will start with technical stuff, then add a few thoughts.

This is about an hour and a half long and moves along well. It is an interesting lecture with many ideas and many futzy things...just what you want in a magic lecture. In short a fun, information-filled lecture on rope magic.

The video quality, while a bit old and grainy, is not a problem. In addition there is often a little screen that opens up in the bottom right corner of the picture. This screen is a shot of hands doing the move described, in crystal clear clarity. So if you were wondering if video is a problem...no. It just adds a bit of patina and magic to the feel of the lecture.

You can see a youtube video of part of the DVD at the site above.

So, technically speaking, what is discussed? The following are the section titles, as you go through the DVD. Some of the section titles on the menu screen do not match the titles as you play through. Nothing is out of order, they are just two titles of the same trick. Example: The title you get if you go through the dvd at one point is "Appearing and Vanishing Knots Bonus: Linking Chain Links". On the menu screen this same section is titled, "Come and Go Knot and Chain Link". Nothing wrong, just a curious thing.

Anything in parenthesis are further descriptions of mine.

More Thoughts on the Christopher Knot

So, there are the sections, plus or minus a word or two. A lot of material for an hour and a half lecture. Like I said, it moves right along.

None of this seems like it would be hard to do.

So, a couple parting thoughts...I liked it. As magician's pretty much everybody does (at one time or another) card tricks, coin tricks, and rope tricks.

This was a classic lecture for a reason...he nails it.

Finally, the price again...$25...this was obviously produced with the real intent of preserving classic magic. It could have been sold for $40-$50.

If you like rope tricks and think you will like this DVD, you are right.
