Hey Steve,
I have been looking at the animatronic tree puppet on your web site in the woods section, under talking trees. I am thinking about this for my church. We have a large pole (about 3 feet in diameter) in the center of all large hallway (30 yards wide). This pole is situated across from the children's area. I'm considering turning this pole into a tree. As we decorate for a special Christmas program it already becomes a tree (like the lower portion of a christmas tree). I'm considering for next year making the tree base talk with your tree face puppet. I have a few questions... Question 1 - Is this designed to be operated with a remote control device. For instance someone, operating it from nearby while looking innocent. Can the person's voice speak into a mic and be broadcast from the tree? This would allow the tree to interact with children off the cuff. Is that the way this operates? 2 - Can this be placed around a pole, or does the tree have to be hollow for the inner workings to fit? 3 - What is the approximate cost for this device, assuming it does what I'm thinking it does? Thanks, Tony |

Hi Tony...
It is exciting to see such whimsical ideas brought to life at Churches and Schools. Here are some photos of our Large talking tree Faces... Here is a video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LEEwg_tXFY We also have a small Tree face. They need a cut out in the tree form, for either a mechanical or an elctro-mechanical system to be behind the face. If your pole is solid then it probably wouldn't work as a moving talking tree. I assume your pole is a support pillar holding up a building? If so cutting a hole in it might cause structural problems. TIMBER! However you could use the story to illustrate how Samson brought down .... ha. If you watch the video you can see how thick the face and mechanics is from the side on the fully animatronic face. It would be possible to build the tree even bigger like 5 feet diameter around your 3 foot dia pole. This might allow enough room for the mechanics and a fully animated talking tree could be greeting the kids at your next Christmas show. I just spent last night in a Christmas Parade of Lights at our harbor using the Animatronic Toucan on a friend's sail boat. Very very cool reaction. The cost and specifics are better handled by email ... many can't see the forest for the trees... Ha. steve@axtell.com
