I working up a mentalist effect I offered this as a way of having a card selected from a prepared deck using two spectators. One person spreads the deck on the table top face down. The second selects any card, faces it as a marker and slides it into the spread. The first person chooses the card above or below the card. If you don't already know their card by now, uses the faced card as a scoop to slide each pile to the edge of the table to "avoid touching it." You can easily get a peek of the bottom card of either pile, though just 'counting over' from the first card should be enough.

This method probably has a fancy name, but I've never seen it.

You can also have one person shuffle the deck and then switch in your stack while handing the deck ot he second person.
