Ryan Schlutz's Sprung & Dagger is a nice take on the card stab.

If it's stage/parlour Bob Swadling's Crystal card stab does the job.

Chad Long has one with a toy dart gun. He used to sell them but I am not sure if he still does.

I believe John Bannon has a card-stab effect in Smoke & Mirrors called "Steel Convergence". Somebody correct me if I'm wrong...

It IS a great one! I remember when I was first learning SITP I would practice the "stab" over and over until I could nail it 10 out of 10 times before quitting for the day! At one time I had about a 90% stab rate often from up to 5 feet away!
As I've said, I see no good reason to learn a different routine since this one has never failed to yield a great response from spectators! MMc |

My stab rate is high, although I almost always stab into the lower half. I try to bounce it up into the middle but then my percentage goes down. Is this the same for you.?

I was stabbed by a card once--nearly tore off my index corner, if you know what I mean...
Harry's are excellent. The Thompson version of Malini's on "Commercial Classics" iso very nice. There are a lot of good versions out there--I even have one hidden away in one of my books. A really good, little known routine at a great price can be had from my buddy Dan Paulus in Salt Lake City. Tell him Guinn sent you!

I did the effect the other day for a few family members at the Christmas gathering and as luck would have it I completely missed the first toss from about 2.5 feet out so I shortened it about 6" and nailed the center! Once again, a WINNER! MMc |

I know this will be frowned upon, but Oz Pearlman has a card stab called the "Pirate Stab" that he debuted in his off broadway show called "Watch Magic" and is available on the DVD by the same name. It's not going to be to everyone's style or liking, and it is a bit of a silly effect, but might be worth looking at if you want a more comical approach to the card stab.

I seem to recall a card stab by Martin Lewis, with a nice kicker at the end. I saw it in a set of his lecture notes on CD-ROM. I think I saw it demoed on his catalog DVD.

How do you sitinguish betwween a "Card Stab" with all the cards spread out on the table and foud with a knife, and a stabbed in the pack style effect?

With the cards spread on the table, the selected card is really stabbed in most cases.
When the card is stabbed in the pack, the stabbing instrument is going between two cards, but not into them.
