I feel that an important point is being missed here. Whatever magic you can demonstrate or imply or invoke is a matter of the spectaor's perceptions, not yours. For any particular spectator you should avoid words that would confuse or anger someone -- explatives, religious or political terms, etc. In other settings they may be OK. Since the word "trick" MIGHT produce the wrong reaction for any particular spectator, why use it? I also don't use the words "fool", "shame", "idiot", "dumb blond" and "sucker" for the same reason.

Unless it is the silk to egg routine, and you use the words 'this is a dumb trick'.
But then that's the sucker effect. Now I feel a right idiot...Damn Seriously, I agree with you funsway, any words that alienate or offend the audience should be avoided at all costs, unless you are talkngof scams/cons as part of your act, for example, 'the 3 shell game is a contrick to make money out of the general public' As this is explicitly telling people what it IS. If your act is to offend though then yes, funsway's words could be used. Again, this all comes down what character you are, your style, and what you are perfoming.
hey... ... what is this signature saying about me?!

I try to avoid the "T" word and use the "E" word (effect). Don't know if it makes that big of a deal, but it's what I do.
