I guess that's why mine has a sticker on it that says, "Not to be operated by Idiots - Do Not Remove this Tag.". Scarey tool. I have a project coming up where I need to build a plywood crate. It seems perfect for that if I add glue to the mix; that's really why I bought it and it hit me that I could finish out Ben's table with it and see for myself how well those things hold. It is tempting the put way too many brads in I think because its so easy and it even sounds like a gun when you pull the trigger. I used ten brads on ben's table top and no glue outside the epoxy glue holding the table frame together. Does anybody know if they sell brads for these things at Lowes?

The safety does keep you from accidentally firing the nailer if you hit the trigger when you pick it up.
As for brads, I know my local Lowes sells Porter Cable brads. That is what I use, but then my nailer jambs...

Thank you both for the info about Lowe's. I'll check and see what they got next time Im in there which will be sooner than later. Hard to imagine that they (or anybody) can sell that nailer for $15. Its hard to comprehend. It looks just like the much more expensive models at the big stores.

I have not had any luck with HF air nailers. Porter Cable nailers seem to hold up fine.
Tabman, Try out a pin nailer sometime. They are really neat, you can put the smallest trim on with them. They make such a small hole they almost sand out. I use a lot of very small trim, glue and pin nails will work on pieces as small as 1/8" x 1/2" x 1/2". Gimpy

Dang... why do I have to buy everything twice???
Ive had the compressor for years but my old dog tailer would absolutely freak when the compressor would kick on so I stopped using it years ago because he was more important to me than the convenience of the compressor. He passed away on good Friday. It took me a month to bring myself to plug it in but Im using it now. On the way to get a pin nailer. Thanks for the tip now that Ive entered the pneumatic age!!

Michael, thanks for the heads up on Micro Fasteners. I had bought some #2 RH phillips screws from OSH but they were terribly inconsistant in size & quality. The screws from Micro Fasteners are great quality, good price and and arrived in 2 days!

For any of you Dremel table saw users out there let me suggest that you try to pick one of these up. I havent tried the vacuum port and probably wont but the difference in the stability of the blade assembly is startling. This does just what it's advertised to do and its made by someone like us, an independent, small shop builder.

Cool, I'll have to look into getting one.
BTW whatever happened to the paint shaker? Did I miss the post, or did it get put on the back burner? I would love to see it in action. Tim

The paint shaker is on top and will get finished soon. I had to take a break from building for a couple of weeks and try to put some things behind me. Life's not always easy.
I started back to work a couple of days ago and started cleaning up and getting ready for another go-round. Im sure the paint shaker will get tried out over the next few weeks. While Im building I need stuff like this to keep me busy while Im waiting on glue, paint, oil, iced-tea and inspiration!! And yes, the saw back really locks the blade down. Both Dremels Ive owned you could wiggle the blade with your fingers if you put a little force on it so you know it moves a little -- but not now. I use a sled for cross cuts and a shop-built rip fence, a simple arrangement with a square piece of aluminum tube and two heavy spring clamps. I use a set of machinists squares to square everything in the shop before I set out making parts. Thanks again for spotting that thing on ebay and letting me know. Im happy with my saw now. It was very good and now I expect it to be great.

I hope things are getting better. No one should have to deal with the crummy stuff life throws our way, but we all do. The day to day stuff can really interfere with our grand plan for things. As John Lennon said "Life is just what happens to you while you're busy making other plans". Fortunately, you have a nice therapy shed (workshop)to get back to.

I used my Dremel table saw today for a couple of hours. The stabalizing feature of the dust back makes an amazing difference in the stability of the saw. Best $20 I ever spent on an accessory besides my collection of squares.
Theres another one on ebay from the maker, heres the url: http://cgi.ebay.com/DREMEL-580-TABLE-SAW......ad250619

On Ebay, I entered Dremel Table Saw and lots of accessories showed up, plus the saw itself. Not sure if I can factor that into the budget right now, though.
BTW - What's a reasonable price for the saw itself?

If you take your time and don't bid over say 80 you might get one. I paid about 165 for the one I bought and it was nasty looking too but cleaned up ok. I had an immediate need for one to do a project so I went for it and kept bidding it up until it was over (thankfully) because the other bidder wanted it too and just wouldnt quit. The saw has already paid for itself and is in the black now. I think I paid around $235 for the new one I bought back in the 80s. I'll probably buy another one once I can justify it but keep me posted. I don't want us bidding against each other - for that matter anybody else either. Definately a tool worth having for model builders and small wood projects.
