Here in Britain our currency is of different sizes for each denomination so right from the start it seemed obvious I should not try and change from one value to another but from something else such as magazine clippings like Richard Sanders suggests in his DVD.I didn't like the idea of finding another foreign currency of very similar size because naturally I would have to continue finding replacements when wearing them out during practice.
My approach was to make something on the computer using Photoshop which I could print again and again.Having visited lots of supermarkets and malls I acquired a whole range of paper based vouchers and advertising and scanned them. Then came the time consuming part which was to create five authentic looking vouchers supposedly from five different high street shops each being different on the back so they looked as if I had cut them from magazines. Most important of all I created them so they had a white...ish border similar to the surround of our notes, the idea being that a glimpse of extra edges would not 'tip the gaff'. I had decided I was only going to do Extreme Burn with £20 notes which would in themselves be genuine ones.Having just done a newspaper T+R I would pull from the pages a little bundle of these prepared vouchers then turn them into £20 notes after a suitable introduction. I cut from a nice flat sheet of brass plate a rectangle of exactly the dimensions of our £20 note and took considerable time first measuring then cutting and filing very carefully to achieve a template which is as exact as I could make.I have also cut from stout solid cardboard a rectangular hole which again is just the right size Now I'm in the very satisfying situation that when I require fresh vouchers to replace shabby ones,i print onto plain paper allowing the computer to do the centering thus they always match front to back. Then position the cardboard hole/frame over the image visibly checking for correct placement.Place the brass rectangle within the cardboard hole press down on the brass and carefully remove the cardboard one.I'm now in the position of having the brass template exactly placed over the image whereupon I can cut around the brass plate with a sharp knife. The end result is that I have exact £20 note size vouchers which look authentic and I can replace whenever I require.A further benefit of having gone to the trouble of making the brass template is I can use it for other £20 blanks such as required for Copy Cash. Finally,i've read several accounts within these pages of people anticipating having trouble getting the Extreme Burn gimmick apart at a later stage after use.I acheive this quite easily by steaming the whole thing over a pan of boiling water for a while within ones of those baskets for steaming vegetables. I hope all this makes sense and is of some use. |

Good info! I've never taken my gimmick apart, and hopefully won't have to.

Great tip!
I find I have to reconstruct my gimmick about every six months. I just pull them apart, but your solution sounds worth trying! Sammy

Just as an aside, most banks have a book that lists all the currency available world wide with pictures and exact measurements. It might be useful in finding different dominations or countries exchanges that are the same size.
