Did Kenner invent the version Copperfield uses?

Actually, a magician named Terry Veckey invented this effect Copperfield preformed, they were all together one night at illusions in India and Terry thought it up, a couple days later Kenner had built the first shoe, that is why he was credited with the invention..

If you mean the Richard Sanders and Patrick Reymonds miracle ring on shoelace you may be disapointed. I bought the effect in hopes that it was a different idea to one of my own I was working on, it was.
I found the instructions to be very well written and photographed, they seemed to make the handling sound easy. In practice I found this not to be the case. As it is with anything in magic time and effort should pay off. It does pose a problem for those of us lucky enough to be blessed with a beer gut though. If I hadn't been working on my own energy free version I would probably have got into the old abdomoniser as the effect is well worth it. Over all I recon it more suited for stand up or formal work than table hopping or walkaround. There is an important aspect of misdirection that wouldn't be tolerated or pheasable in a lot conditions I have worked in.

No, I don't perform it. I bought it, read it, and put it in the junk drawer. It's long since been lost. I found it a terribly underwhelming method, although I'm sure with some thought the right person could make it work, it just wasn't for me.
I realize the post was changed because your original question was answered, but since I didn't have the option to delete my post in entirety, and I did not want anybody to be confused if I left my post blank with no explanation, I posted explaining that this thread is no longer the one I replied to, and so my reply was removed since it no longer had any relevance to the thread. I think that's more courteous to readers of it than just writing, "--post deleted--" like some people do.

I bought it and have used it to great reactions. It is perfect for me because I always perform in suits wearing black shoes with very thin laces. Makes a good stage picture to quote Mr. Regal. Is the method amazing, absolutely not. It is well written and fairly simple although I ditched the vanish that came with the trick and came up with my own. It makes a great ending for Ring Leader. As you can imagine, it gets great reactions, but the real secret of teh trick is having the guts to pull it off. Misdirection is the name of the game.
