Thank You for the heads-up, Mike! I am sorry you had to go through all that trouble with no success.
How many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Regardless, for magicians darkness is a time for d'lite.

I am very sorry to hear about the quality control on these going downhill. It's very sad to see a person's life work who has always showed a great attention to details and working to all of a sudden have their products not meet the same standards. I'm very glad I purchased this when I did to this day mine still works flawlessly.

They have one of these for sale at Hocus pocus if anybody's interested I would call call on Monday and see if he could actually look at it and make sure it is operational if so I would just buy it from them.

I shipped mine back today; defective gimmick. Took it to a shop called the Mailbox; wanted it well packed, insured, etc. The cost was $23.85; ) it would have ben somewhat less at the farther-away post office). The Penguin staffer said, in an email, that their policy is to reimburse send-back shipping "up to $6.00."
I thought they should cover the full shipping cost, but then I thought again. With a full reimbursement policy, there are guys who would order something to learn the secret and then send it back--at NO cost to themselves. So it may be that requiring purchasers to pay most of the shipping cost is a reasonable deterrent to abusing the sellers. I invite your reflection. George |

If it's defective, then I think you should be entitled to a full refund including shipping costs. If you return something because you don't want it (for reasons other than faulty goods) paying for shipping and even a restocking fee seems like fair game to me.
Of course that opens the possibility a few people might intentionally break a gimmick and then demand a full refund, but I guess that's true for any business that offers refunds. |

$6 reimbursement for shipping costs seems reasonable to me. I wouldn’t expect to go over that.

Bought one years ago and even then it was definitely knacky, once I figured it out it still was hit or miss as the secret was so hard to discern, especially when performing and you don't have a lot of time to look at what you are suppose to be looking at! Don't know about the newer ones.

My post was a bit misleading.
When I mentioned I bought 2. I meant 2 other effects that are the remakes. Mind Chips. Absolutely horrible and didn’t work at all. And the card box one. Also a remake. The dealer gladly refunded me. And they stopped selling them due to other customers also having problems. I own the original Final Penetration and it’s flawless and I love it! No issues. I also own numerous other Mikame ORIGINAL effects that are also flawless and top notch. Sorry for any confusion Mike |

Sounds like he paid for it to be packed by a shipping company and chose to purchase a fairly deluxe option of their services. That is perfectly fine but it was his choice to do so and Penguin shouldn't really have to reimburse for an expensive way of shipping. Six dollars should cover most of the shipping for items returned. I would have just shipped it back exactly how Penguin shipped it to me, using the same packing materials. Granted it would likely to have still cost more than $6, but probably not much more. But then I don't where George is located and I am in he same state as Penguin. Penguin needs to raise their amount of reimbursement for shipping though because shipping costs have gone up quite a bit recently. Sorry the prop didn't work out for George and he even had to return it. |

I have one of these now. So far, it doesn't work. I am working on it to see if I can get it to work. The newer ones aren't made right. I might have to rebuild a part of it.

I suspect that the problem lies in the cube.

There is a difference between the original props and the new props. For one, the original cubes were made with certain wood that was part of the method. The new ones clearly aren't made that way. I don't think they were made to the same speifications. Mine, like many who have purchased the newer versions, are simply defective.

It looks exactly like the one in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAu06Uy3O0c It seems to look like the origina, however, the instructions say to look for a certain wood grain on the cube. My cube doesn't have that certain wood grain, it has a little piece of tape. I suppose you are supposed to mark that side somehow and remove the tape. It is possible that they mismarked the cube, but I tried all angles. We are bordering on disclosure, but I'm not sure if it matters, these would be vERY difficult to make. KJ |
