I thought I would share with everyone on here a new DVD that I got to review.
LearnFireEating.com "...Not only is does she explain the most guarded secrets but she discusses in detail all of the steps needed to perform both safely for you and your audience. A lot of work has gone into the making of this DVD and it shows. I highly recommend purchasing a copy!" You can check out some of the video on the website. Also there is a Facebook group for fire eaters, search LearnFireEating.com on Facebook and join in the fun. Let me know what you guys think. Christopher Cool |

The "kit" that she sells is essentially a home bbq tool set that is sold at many department stores (probably on clearance right now) with some things that you could pick up pretty much anywhere for pennies on the dollar all for $229!!!! That really made me laugh, let's run down the contents:
Are you a raging fire bug? Do you want to look like a professional in seconds? (this is all it takes? wish I knew that before I devoted all that time and training into it) Includes # Metal Fire Case with Handle (comes free with bbq kit) # Pressurized Fire Extinguisher 454g (1lb) with Pressure Gauge or Fire Blanket (the extinguisher that she gives you is an ABC extinguisher, very bad for indoors and most situations, this has been discussed many places on the forum CO2 is the way to go) # Stainless Steel, Fuel Transport Container ( no coment, I've seen people market empty paint cans as fuel transport containers for $20, can't really comment on hers since I can't tell from the picture really what it is) # 3 Rolls of 100% Non-Stretch, Surgical Cotton (would work in a pinch I guess but any serious fire eater probably would not be using it) # Non Toxic, Torch Building Adhesive (White Glue) (this made me laugh) # 4 Food Grade Metal Skewers with Handles (Torches) (again part of the kit) # 20 Piece First Aid Kit (no comment) # Scissors (hopefully they are made of gold) # Butane Lighter (wow, really??!! They're very hard to come by) # International “Flammable Liquid” Label (cool, a sticker) # Large Bottle of Burn Free Gel (118ml) (For when you burn yourself watching the dvd) # Wet Wipes - Fire Eating Can Be Messy (these are great for when you eat hot wings too) # MSDS Sheets (easily downloaded off this new place called the internet, for the mere cost of paper) So really she's giving you the BBQ kit but keeping the spatula and tongs for herself to sell on her other sight learntogrill.com |

Yah this line caught my eye. There is a difference between looking like a pro and actually BEING one. And while it might be the first fire eating DVD in North America it is not the first VIDEO of it. Brian Brushwood would probably agree.

While I think that Brian's book is a good reference material for properly trained fire performers, the dvd that he provides with it is awful, it's short clips with no explanation. I definitely wouldn't consider that an instructional dvd or video. Without the book it would be absolutely useless, with the book it is slightly useful, very slightly.

Hey I didn't say it was good or bad, I just said there was one.

Sorry Stucky, guess I should clarify. Wasn't criticizing you, just wanted to give people some info before anyone read this and sought out the dvd that Brian put out. There are actually several fire eating instructional dvds out there, but it's been said on the Café time and time again that the only way to learn is in person from a qualified teacher. Sorry for the confusion.

I doubt you'll hear from them, the person only has 2 posts, both of which are posts about this dvd in different sections of the Café.
