.
I heard about an upcoming book on the Triple Threat.

There was many contributions being put into it like Troy Hooser and Garrett Thomas to name ONLY a couple.

Does anyone know when this will be released and from who???

Sounds like it s going to take a bit longer but also sounds like it will be worth it for those 4 new routines he is adding.

The book was finished a while back. Tams received word from G. Thomas that he had routines to contribute to the book. Tams now must edit these new ideas and it may be a while before we see the complete book.

I saw today on Todd Lassen's blog that the book is now ready to order.
Details are at http://www.333ttt.net (temporary website until the official one is done).

It looks like each book is custom printed with your name on each page. This is done to thwart the act of unauthorized publishing of the material to the internet.

I have never heard of this approach. Pretty smart.

The book sells for $69.00 plus $5.95 shipping to the US.

I'm sure the price is higher than expected because of this unique approach to printing them one at a time.

I guess the question is "Are you willing to invest $75.00 in a book to learn uses and routines from top pros for a gaff that now sells for $400.00?".

Your call.

Cheers,
Sammy

Wow - a little paranoia goes a long way! Unfortunately I think this will hurt sales of the book after an initial rush on it. That's a very large price!

Thanks!

I think that for $75 I'll get some fresh material for a gaff I already own. I ordered my copy and suspect I'll be happy with what I get for the cost. I also understand the approach to the publishing process given the propensity to pirate materials these days...

I'm in.

I paid $25.00 for Troy Hooser's first booklet on this gaff. I guess $75 to get the additional information makes sense for me. I would love to sell the original notes, but don't think that will happen. Oh well, they only cost about the same as a meal at the Saturday Round Table on Saturdays in Denver.

My biggest hope is that the material in the new book includes stuff I can do.
I find that as I get older, a lot of moves I could do in my 30s are now too tough.

I currently do a pretty basic one at a time production and vanish sequence. It is very magical and gets great reactions. It makes the purchase of the coin set worthwhile.

It would be fun to do the production, have a nice routine utilizing the Triple Threat in the middle, then do the vanish. Could be a killer routine.

I plan to buy the book. Let's face it, the cost is the same as an 18 hole round of golf at the municipal course here in Castle Rock. One less round of golf, a lot of good stuff for a gaff I already own!

I like the approach to be honest. First, it gives one a unique piece for ones collection.
Second, not some cheap ebook relying on a specific computer with some DRM to make the honest costumer feel like a potential criminal.

Not exactly new though. I first read about the approach in "Patriot Games". The author called it a canary trap. Hope it works.

I've spent much more than $69.00 on items that are in my "magic" junk drawer that will never again see the light of day. I use my TT regularly and look forward to the new material.

I perform a coins to glass routine that follows that pattern. Too late to include my routine for this book, but it will go into one of my books in the future.

It's interesting how the book is being protected against uploading thieves. But is it necessary? You have to buy the $400 gimmick to begin with and if you can afford that then you can afford the book as well. I'll be buying the book soon.

Good point Douglas. I guess some of the uploading thieves aren't smart enough to figure that out. They just want the "buzz" of ripping someone off.

Here here Steve! I didn't hesitate a second! I love the gaff and hope to enjoy the new material too.

I agree with Douglas on this in the same breath though. Charge what is fair for the contributors and be done with it. It does seem a bit silly as they will only ever sell the book to owners of the gaff as it is. I've read, as probably many of you have, that if you want to protect an effect all you have to do is print it in a BOOK! Smile Nuff said...

But what if my legal name is Software P. Pirate, and I live in a Post Office Box??

Kidding. I just ordered the book. Can't wait for arrival.

I've always thought there was much, much more that could be done with the Triple but being creatively challenged it's pretty much been in my drawer.

Even if I've had issues with Todd Lassen, the pricing a book at a rather high price is a way to not spread the secret too widely without loss of income for the author. It's no a bad thing for the purchasers of the book who is ensured not to see the trick presented at every street corner and it should be reminded that this book offers uses for a gimmick that isn't really accessible to everyone either. This is just consistent marketing.
