Practice is indispensible for making our magic good. Being a magician, I always try to make my magic better with different methods. One of the methods I use is to study all the movements of my body during practice. Not only I always practice, I try to figure out why the sleights work and how could I improve them every time.
It is interesting that new sleights are always created during practice if you always think about your every movements. I hope this little tip could help those who would like improve their magic. Alex

I do the exact same thing! very helpful. I practice in front of my BIG mirror, then after I think it looks good, I show it to my magician friends and see what they think of it and ask if they see anything wrong.

I like to study in front of a video camera. I review what I do. Get in front of the camera again, review and do this until I get it right, after I get it right, I go to the mirrow and enjoy myself watching magic..

I am a mirror man myself. I like watching all of my movements in the mirror, and more times than not, I catch myself doing "tells" that I should not. I can't say that I have come up with any new sleights, but I have come up with new ways to do sleights that work better for me.

I like mirrors, too. My significant other has issues with that, but that's another issue.
I like to see if I can do the move well enough in front of a mirror to fool myself. It works for everything else, why not magic?

I prefer using mirrors when practicing my magic.

I use mirrors for practice. Videocamera for rehearsal and a tape recorder for script while in front of mirror.
A videocamera is a really good tool, it will show you every horrible thing you do in full lurid color and it really drives you to "get it right this time"
'though it stands to reason that a samurai should be mindful of the Way...it would seem that we are all negligent.

Although I prefer using a mirror (being something of a Luddite), a video camera is superiour. Taping myself allows analyzing my moves later, letting me focus on the moves during practice. With a mirror, I'm watching and analyzing at the same time I'm performing -- thus splitting my focus.
