I would like to do a needle thru the balloon effect with a balloon inside of the clear balloon used for the needle effect. I think it would add a little more mystery to the effect if maybe the inner balloon was popped by the needle as it traveled thru the clear balloon. Does anyone know how to do this I have gave it a lot of thought and I am stumped when it comes to blowing the inner balloon up and tying it off. Any help would be great. Thanks

I would think stuffing a smaller colored balloon into the larger, clear balloon would be simple. Leave enough of the colored balloon nozzle hanging out to inflate and tie off...Then inflate the clear balloon around the colored balloon. Push the colored balloon into the clear balloon and and tie off the clear nozzle.
I would think that the needle penetrating the clear balloon would pop the colored balloon as soon as the tip hits it. The impact of the inner balloon popping should have little to no effect on the outer balloon. The down time involved in inflating and tying both balloons means you'd have to prep them before your show (in my opinion).

Yes it works great. Like Skip said, make sure to keep the smaller colored balloon nozzle outside the clear balloon nozzle so you can tie it. Then push the colored balloon in and blow up the clear one. You might jump the first time you do it but it is very visual.

I seem to remember from some science classes you can do this with a laser, as long as the outer balloon is CLEAR and the inner one is dark colored. Laser pointer doesn't work, but a good laser from somewhere like Edmund Scientific will do it. Anybody ever included this as a part of a magic performance?

The needle routine worked me, too. Very visual. This idea has great Gospel and character lesson potential for those so inclined. Thanks for bringing it up, BH!

Skip,
What Gospel applications are you thinking about?

Just random thoughts at the moment, John. Something along the line of cleansing the soul, perhaps? Maybe that mankind is basically good and prayer conquers that bit of "sin" within us all? Prayer penetrating to overcome sin?
What about two colored balloons inside the clear balloon? A white inside a black inside the clear? The needle penetrates the clear, gently pops the black to perform a color change on the inner balloon, leaving it white. The white is small enough to allow the needle to continue over it to the other side of the clear, leaving the white bouncing around inside the clear intact as a cleansed soul? The needle is "Prayer?" Same with character lessons - We 're all tempted, but we can overcome that nagging voice inside us? I'm not a Gospel performer, so some of you will certainly be able to come up with more powerful ideas - but, these might tweak your creative juices. What about an inner balloon filled with little lightweight plastic balls then inflated? Pop the inner balloon and the balls fly out. Cool and colorful effect? Balloon "fireworks?" Or Miniature playing cards for a novel card revelation? Pop the inner balloon and the cards fly out and around inside the balloon. Your hand covers the selected card previously glued against the inside of the clear facing out...cards fly around the balloon as you move your hand to reveal the chosen card...two miracles in one? Just brainstorming ideas. What are your thoughts?
