$60 is so little for two DVDS from a guy that is a seasoned pro and has used the material in paid gigs for years.

The challenge with Close's material, at least for me, is to come up with patter and presentation that is believable for my own personality. Many of his routines patter around being in a certain casino, and with me, that just won't sell. Most folks know I don't do that, so I need to come up with something more credible. But don't get me wrong, his material is still top notch.
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

Here is a question before I order:

Is this all done with regular cards? or would I need to buy some gaffed cards as well?

The reason I am asking is I overheard some say that I may need to purchase some gaffs.

Could someone please clear this up for me?

I will order immediataly once I know this.

Thanks

Alex

Some of the effects (most) taught require just normal cards and some require gaffs/commercial effects... as an example Michael teaches his handling of Sideswipe (GREAT killer effect), A New World, etc. Anything Michael puts his mind to he takes it to a new level. I have been fortunate enough to see a lot of this material and it is superb.

I was really hoping to see Mike perform his cheating lessons routine and his detective collectors routine, but will still enjoy the project I am sure.

I've been doing Simon Aronson's Sideswiped for years, so I'm very interested in seeing what Mike does with it!

I think most of the subscribers were happy since the site ran for about a year and
a half. I got my $20.00 worth.

I'll stick my head above the parapet! The material is mainly regurgitated from previous offerings, which is ok if you don't have the previous offerings.

BUT, I have have real reservations about supporting someone who treated their customers so shabbily in the past.

Do a search on Michael Close's subscription forum for a flavour of how he treats subscribers.

The material is top notch and perhaps better taught on DVD than print. When it comes to regurgitated material I would much prefer this set of thouroughly audience tested material than the upcoming regurgitated Dan Harlan set. Your mileage may vary.

Mark--
Ouch! Pretty mean spirited. No offense to Mike Close... his routines are great, but to imply that my material is not audience tested offends me to my core. My latest DVD, HARLAN LIVE (Magic Enhancers), contains the routines which have proven over time to be the most solid in my shows. Yes, there are some items that have appeared on video elsewhere, but even these have been refined into their current versions by repeated performances in the real world. Plus, there are routines which have never been released on video, including "Tightrope" and "Cheez Wiz"... two of my most requested routines (by magicians and laymen alike). Now, I'm no Mike Close, but he is no Dan Harlan... and I daresay he and I could appear on the same program at any venue and thoroughly entertain the crowd equally well. We are both professionals who pride ourselves on well-written, unique material... I just do fewer card tricks, I suppose.

Perhaps part of my feelings speak for myself and several others I know personally that have been stung by the unfulfilled promises and money lost on undelivered products from you.
