Right now I am using many Axtell puppet and wanted to upgrade to a vent dummy. Where can I find good dummy? |

Ebay, Vent Central classifieds would be my recommmendations. You may have to wait awhile until the figure you want becomes available but the savings is worth it, IMO. You can also contact any of the figure makers via email and see what they have in stock to sell. Steve Barry at Gepetto's Workshop has some nice figures as does Kenny Croes and they are both very reasonable!

You might want to try Wanlu on this forum. I think he is beginning to offer figures at reasonable prices.

How is Puppets and Props figure? May I ask what do they mean by "Blinker" and "Winker" add on? Eyes moving side to side is different from crossing eyes also?

A blinker operates both eyelids so the puppet can closed its eyes.
A Winker operates just one eyelid so the puppet can wink. Side to side eyes are just that, the eyes can move side to side so the puppet can look around. Crossing eyes move both eyes toward the center - as in crossing your eyes. For beginners, too many functions make the learning curve much harder. The goal is to bring the figure to life. That requires practicing, not extra features. Edgar Bergen's Charlie McCarthy only used a moving mouth. Same with Jeff Dunham's Walter. You don't need a lot of functions to create a believable character. My advice would be to spend on a higher quality figure with less animation than to buy a converted figure with more at the same or slightly lower price. I do not own a Puppets and Props figure, but I have purchased castings from Mike in the past and his work is very good. Same with Dan Payes - good quality and great characters at a very reasonable price. |

Thanks for your explanation. I understand that too much function will be hard for me to start off with. but I guess I can have all these function in the puppet but slowly using one thing at a time when progressing through the years
will think about whether to put so much money into the function for not using it too, haha... just cannot make up my mind... I guess right now, is to find a puppet that I love and decide the add on later... |
