Wanted to clarify my count excludes duplicates, spares and japanese only Tenyo
# Angelo Carbone (220+) - Exlcuding spares, duplicates and Japanese only Tenyo # Killertweety (204) - with duplicates 289. I counted the official 'T-/TC-/TM-xxx' items, so this includes the Coin Banks. This does not include 'extra' items that Tenyo releases every year (e.g. Magical Burger) # Edshern (51) # Mark F (90+) # xl18 (158) # Nicolino (413 counting all duplicates, trade and spare items!) # guerrestellari (87+23 arriving soon). Started collecting Nov 2009 # Paul Budd (2) # DLF (58) plus duplicates. Started collecting in January 2010 # Stereo (149) started collecting in december 2009 # IanB 235+ # Roberto Breyer (>100) # John Talbot 184 # Steve Freedman 400+ The majority of my collection is the Japanese versions. # oombob (30+) # Kabanning! (1+)

My count is the same as Angelo's i.e. excludes duplicates, spares and japanese only Tenyo. If I included those I guess I could almost double the number?
So..... # Angelo Carbone (220+) - Exlcuding spares, duplicates and Japanese only Tenyo # Killertweety (204) - with duplicates 289. Hi There,
Im new to the Café and only been collecting seriously for 6 months. I have around 60 all sealed US/UK discontinued Tenyo and lots of duplicates. It is the 60s 70s and 80s packaging that I particularly like. Some are works of art! I have a lot of catching up to do! My collection is far from complete in terms of T-numbers but that was never my goal, I'm not a completist but only collect what I impresses me technically or effect-wise. However, I always buy in lots when I find a bargain.

Speaking about effect that impresses technically I think that T-44 Magic Coaster is also an enigma, and maybe a nice clever gimmick because In fact I have absolutly no idea how it can work to make pop-up 2 coins inside the glass. Seeing the catalog sent by Richard where you can see the props I really wonder how it works.
Do you know something similar? It's really crazy that nobody have this magic trick. |

There was a trick put out years ago where a deck of cards had a thin gimmick on top: a small group of cards glue together just thick enough to hold a quarter. They used Tally Ho backs, which have two circles exactly the diameter of a quarter, and these were carefully cut out on top except for a tiny bit. You could slide a quarter in from each edge of the gimmicked section. When you held the full deck (gimmick on top) in your hand with an upside-down glass on top, and you gave the bottom of the glass a firm whack, the coins would get propelled out of the gimmick--exactly the way they do in this year's "Magic Coaster."
It is possible that the old Tenyo coaster worked this way, particularly since I think I can see some circles the size of coins in the printed design on the surface of the coaster (note that this appears to be what the British call a "beer mat," which is a type of coaster made from cardboard that absorbs liquid. In addition to interviewing all of Tenyo's creative team (including the retired members) while in Japan, a friend of mine has located some Japanese Tenyo collectors and I'm hopeful that seeing their collections might answer some questions. |
