I am in search of a resource that would be best for creating a princess-style dress for my young daughter to wear. The first DVD that comes to mind is of course, Debbie Stevens Balloon Dress basics. The info I can find about it tends to be more geared toward the fashion end of things. Before I order, is there another resource more inclined toward a wearable for a little girl? (I'm talking a big dress, not just a crown and wand)

I do not know of any resource for that. However, dress basics are dress basics, I would think. (I haven't had any instruction in that, only my own experimenting) If you search through BHQ photos I know I've seen princess dresses for little girls, and combining photos with Debbie's technique would probably be immensely helpful. I hope that helps somewhat, good luck in your search!

Thanks alexa - since I posted I've been googling, and there don't seem to be any competing dress dvds. I ordered Debbie's, I'm sure it's tops. I am going to T&S, where she's doing a Wednesday masters class on dresses, but we won't arrive until Thursday. My daughter will need a dress for our stage competition show.

Do you already know how to weave the balloons? Balloon dresses are made by the weaving techniques (among other things). If you don't know the weaving basics, a good video to get would be "Entertaining with balloon sculpting" with S. Frank Stringham.

While looking fro something else, I found this:

http://shop.diamondstorm.com/index.php?m......s_id=262

"Balloon Beauty
"$38.00
"This book is a collection of the fantastic work of Ms. Rie Hosokai's balloon fashion. It contains photographs of her work and a section on some of the techniques she uses. It is written in both Japanese and English."

Haven't seen it. Won't comment on it's merits. Just passing it on FYI.

I have the book mentioned above. It is a beautiful coffee-table style book. Definitely not for the beginner or intermediate twister - the book definitely requires some serious skills to create the pieces in this book.

If you do a search for dress you get 14 pages, so this was just a quick look through. There is one thread where I made the dress and took many pictures at various stages. hope it helps
