My friend Michael has started to develop and make a line of faux fruit
that is very, very real looking and would make great final loads for C&B, Benson Bowls, Chop Cups, or just about anything else. These are handmade and for the serious worker, and I don’t think they’ll be cheap to make or sell. Michael is supposed to be sending me something, so I will report on it when it gets here.

Any word on these yet? If not, where is there a good alternative? Thanks!

The ones I got were not ready for prime time.

I like using false mushrooms as large loads: they look very fragile and people tend to believe that if they were secretly taken out of the pocket, they would break (which real one actually would)

You can get very realistic fake fruits at many places that sell decoration stuff. Not all are very good, but some are excellent. I have a few apples that look very real even a few feet away. One place is this:

When you buy fake fruit through the mail or over the internet, ask the seller how hard the surface of the fruit is. You don't want fruit that talks when you load it.

I've still found no better than Michael Ammar's Fab Fruit for this purpose. I love the weight and texture of it...it just feels right when handling it. I've found a LOT of fake fruit that does indeed talk due to the surface. The hollow stuff doesn't seem to be as dependable...when you lift the cups it seems to be easier to knock over because it's so light, were as the Fab Fruit sits well on the table and can accept a gentle nudge from the cup without toppling.

I agree that Fab Fruit is the best! I have the older variety, which I believe is a little bigger than is currently available. I only wish they came in a size for the bigger cups.
