I agree it was a question...just, who performs magic or mentalism for other magicians only? they're not paying you...just seems a shame to judge an effect on whether it'll fool other magicians...its kinda not the point of magic really...

MagicFreak2, The hecklers and hustlers will never be assuaged. No effect will ever be unsolvable as long as we, humans are designing and creating them. There will always be ideas and theories as to how its done. With that in mind, its our job, as mentalists to entertain, and suspend the belief of our audience and get them captured into the moment we are creating. This moment may only last until after a performance for some, and much longer for many others. We have to give the illusion of impossibility, with the only deduction being a power we portray.
p.s...I'm in no way suggesting that we let machines take over the creation of effects, they're not smart enough...yet

So is this a true ACAAN or a selected card at any number?

This is not ACAAN or A Selected Card At Any Number,
but Any Random Card At Any Random Number. Read the description. Just my opinion the effect is very good because give you the possibility to perform "Random ACAAN" without you touch ever or you see the deck. M.P |

It is not an ACAAN. The perfomer patters that it is fairer to add 2 extra steps, further randomizing the selections.
It is more of a mathematical trick, where the spectators do the required fiddling to get what seems a Random card at a Random number. The reason this is good is that the spectators think they are in control of the process. CW

If you change now Random with Any you have: Any Card At Any Number RCARN = ACAAN. :D -Antonio |

I believe there is a misunderstanding: You confuse almost self working trick with math trick. R-ACAAN is almost self working trick and not a math trick. M.P |

I answer you with an example: Spectator 'A' thinks ANY number (for example 10), he takes the deck and shuffles it with this number he looks the 10th card in the deck. This card will be the Random Card (Jack of Spades) Spectator 'B' thinks ANY card (for example 2 of Clubs), he takes the deck and shuffles it and then he looks for the position in the deck ( 29 ). After many cuts and triple cuts and the magicians asks the spectator to count 29 cards face-up and the Jack of Spades is there. If you believe this process is a math trick then R-ACAAN is a math trick. I don't think this is a math trick at all. -Antonio |
