Hello everyone!
I'm considering getting this DVD but I am not familiar with Mr. Otero's work. Does anyone here have this DVD? If so, can you let us know if the effects require a table surface or can they be done while strolling? Are the effects commercial and are they practical? Any feedback will be great. Many thanks! Roberto

This DVD is also on my purchase list
There is a Youtube video advertising this DVD. There appears to be a mix of Table and strolling effects. Luis Otero is highly respected (FISM judge) and his Coincidence effect(table required) is excellent. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbN11alQyDU http://mymagic.com/otero.htm |

Nornb,
Thanks for posting this video. On the first effect of the video where he changes a selected card into a bill then retrieves the card from his pocket. I don't really care for those types of effects, what;s the reason for changing the card to a bill? Also, the fact that as soon as the card turns into the bill his hand races for his pocket. I think these things that arouse suspicion. I get the impression from the video clip that he's trying to imitate Juan Tamariz with his character but with a little less "craziness". I do love that effect where the selection is inserted in the middle of the deck and is left sticking out. He then causes it to turn face down and then face up while it's still sticking out from the middle of the deck. Very nice! Roberto

I bought several years ago the Cartomagia para entendidos which is the spanish original version of this set and would really recommend this material for advanced cardlovers. Effects are strong, sometimes require good sleight (very well explained) and faro shuffle. Nice version of Jazz aces. If you get the sleights especially for Otero Opener which is a very visual trick that gets strong reactions, you'll add very nice effects to your repertoire. Most of the tricks can be made strolling and get nice interaction with the public.
Luis has his own style, indeed very different from Tamariz one, but may looks similar for those not used to the "Latino Style", more informal than the US or European magicians. Recommended, no doubt ! |
