Thanks for the link. Good to know that there are "No ugly single or double lines circle the cups". Smile

"Designed by Tony Spina and used by the the late great Frank Garcia." Why do I get the impression that the extent of the use was a quick try of the cups, before he told Tony that they wouldn't use them to perform with?

I recall reading that Frank Garcia completely dissociated himself from the "Garcia" cups. He wanted nothing to do with them and claimed that he had nothing to do with them.

I've heard that before too, Sean...

Don't understand why his name continues to be associated with cups that he never used or authorized. Doesn't seem right from my perspective.

What goes around comes around. If you know about Frank's history, you would know that it was apropos.

BTW, there is a set in the museum.

I don't find them ugly at all. Just looking at them as "cups", they probably look more like a cup someone might use for drinking/containing liquid than a whole lot of other cups and balls cups I've seen. Nice finish, too.

Now, how they look when 2 or 3 are stacked may change my opinion completely (never seen them stacked - perhaps one who owns a set can post a photo - but think they would look awkward).
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Do I detect a note of sarcasm in your comment, Bri??? Smile

Sorry about the fingerprints... Didn't notice until I posted the photo and just too lazy to take another one.

Perhaps a little yes Smile

I love the way you think that fingerprints are going to make a difference! Actually, it gave me something interesting to look at!!

I shouldn't joke really... I know in a year or 2 I will be at a convention and someone will show me a killer move or routine that can only be done with those cups and I will eat a big helping of humble pie Smile

Then, we'll all want some!

Part of me likes that they look like real cups, and it is hard to take a photo of chrome. so Not as bad, $250. for 3 bathroom tumblers? still ugly.

I didn't pay anywhere near $250 for mine... If I recall correctly I got them on the big auction site. Come to think of it, I was the only bidder... hmmm.

They look more like oversized bathroom faucet handles to me.

If you showed these to someone and asked them if they were ugly, I don't believe they would look at them and say "yes". Whether or not they look like magician's cups is another matter. But they just look like nice, chrome cups. I agree with Bill, they are reminiscent of faucet handles, but they certainly not ugly.

I don't think a lay person would find anything wrong with any cup we use.
but on the other hand ask the next lay person you do cups for how much they think you spent on your cups.
We find a very odd attraction to cups that they don't see, Who here has only 1 set of cups?
I'm thrifty (cheap!) and have 4 sets, 3 chop cups, and random spattering of bar jiggers and odd wood goblets and other found cups.

I am really late to this topic, but here I am...
I do not think the "Garcia" Cups are that ugly at all....
They are nicely chromed and look... well... magical!
No other cup has the bumps as a ridge... They all have a bead or two...
I like em!
They are different... Different is good... just like each of us!
Course I didn't pay 250 either! Smile

I thought it was only my set of El Duco cups that stacked poorly. Back in the early 90s this was my first set of "real" cups, too.

Strangely, seeing another set stack so poorly does not make me feel better. But at least I got a chuckle out of it.

I just ordered a second set. Until they come I only have one set.

Sorry, timmyjimmy, but you are not well-informed. The Ambitious Card manufactured a few sets in leather with studs in place of ridges. The studs are the same as the bumps.
