Just had a few calls regarding the Tom Norman Show.
Word has it that this show will feature in Blackpool dureing the Convention period. Can find no info on this to verify ? The front that I worked on last year was purchased and stored at Dingles in Cornwall, I can only guess it has been sold on !! Any info ? Anyone. Ken. |

Thanx for that John.
Still not sure whats being exhibited ?? Yes the Norman Show front (Paradeing) Was taken out of moth balls and revamped by Dingles Fairground Heritage,,,put on display for the first time last Easter. I worked it as a come on to the Voltini Show over the three days. Pics that you had from me were the actual frontage pics. I therefore wonder if the exhibit at Blackpool is the same one or a copy. As Tim Mantis is involved with this Showzam thing maybe he could shed some light on it ! I have traveled many miles in the past,,,only to be dissapointed when presented with over preserved units or copies of the original tradeing under the banner of being original ! There are so few setups left to enjoy and some fronts (Which would never stand up to being used on showgrounds) Have been made up and hired out for Corporate events etc etc as real workers !!! Will drill down to it next week unless Tim can chime in here. Ken. |

Well it has now been made clear that Mike Smith (Dingles Fairground Trust) Is showing the Norman front at Blackpool, not sold it on. It remains their property and its on hire for display.
Thanks M Diamond for the heads up. Ken. |

I think I better clear things up over The Tom Norman Show. A group of 3 of us who own & operate historic Fairground equipment bought The Tom Norman Show from the sucessful bidder at Peter Arnett's dispersal sale. As the 3 of us were busy with other projects at the time, the showfront went on loan to The Fairground Herritage Trust at Dingles. The FHT agreed to display it at the SHOWZAM in Blackpool last year. The Show went back to Dingles & was on display during the 2010 season. Since then, we have brought it back to our workshop & have overhauled & repainted the frame for the front & conserved the fragile decorated panels on the Showfront bringing it into a condition where it can once again travel. The next phase of the restoration will be continuing work on the booth, which we have already started. Transport is something else we need to address. It is currently open in The Winter Gardens in Blackpool for the 2011 SHOWZAM event. We feel very privilaged to be the custodians of The Tom Norman Show & to bring it back out to the public. Enjoy!

Mitcham Council have one pair. On some old photos of the Show, there were 2 pairs on it, but there is only a bracket for one pair on the frame now. Nottingham may well have the other ones.
