Thank you for this!
This is the one feature missing at the NYCM site: None of the detailed contents information is posted anywhere. Makes for hell when I need to find a given sleight on my other ten volumes! Thanks! Jim |

A magician could make a worldwide reputation just picking up some of these effects and writing a good script to combine them in an act.
There are several effects there which are pure strolling (no need for a table) making them desirable treasures for the working performer. What a great DVD set! You guys keep impressing me.

Giacomo,
I can't agree with you more my friend. These DVDs are definitely another must have from the New York Coin Guys. I was lucky enough to have another contribution in this collection, which turned out beautifully I must say lol. Enough about me, let's get to the down and dirty of this set. Just to get this out of the way, this is in no way a paid endorsement, just my humble opinion of a great DVD set. I don't want to touch upon everything as Giacomo did an amazing job with that. What I would like to do is touch upon some of my favorites on the set. The Good Dr. Rubinstein has some great routines on the set. Some of my favorites were, his Purse and Glass routine. I published a gaffless, no extras version based off of the Latta version back in 2007 in Antinomy magazine but Rubinstein definitely makes mine look like a knucklebuster lol. He took Roth’s original routine and made it standup, no lapping and a lot easier. There is some great thinking in this routine. Another favorite was the Tallahassee Jumping Coins. There’s a nice variation of the Himber Count in there that will allow everyone to do this move without all the work that it took learning the original. There’s also a really great sequence in there that makes the travel of a coin impossible and yet easily done using the illusion of sound. Fuzzy Math was another routine that I very much liked. I remember seeing an earlier version of this on Rubinstein’s Knockout Coin Magic series. This handling is definitely a great update to the original with a great ending that the spectators will never see coming! David Roth arguably has published a principle that, dare I say, is worth the price of the set if not all 13 DVDs, the Open Servante. I'm not going into detail about it but to say that I had to walk out of the room while he was filming that segment because my reaction would've been way too loud for the camera. I was in complete and utter amazement while he was performing as well as during the explanation. Something that simple yet that powerful. It literally looked like he was doing real magic. Another favorite of mine was the McCarthy Handkerchief Vanish. This is something that I definitely plan on adding to my arsenal. Mike Gallo, what can I say, his stuff always amazes me. It was definitely a fun time sitting with him and Dan during his segments on the DVD. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I love Okito box routines. His Okito Rocks and Okito Transit routines are great! Great thinking and powerful magic. Personally I feel there are shortages of "worker" Okito routines out there but these two can be added into a worker's set almost immediately. In addition, his Two Copper, One Silver routine is making me invest in the gaff. That routine fooled the heck out of me when he shot it. It was one of those stunned silent moments. Eric Decamps had some great routines on the set as well. My personal favorite was his Three Coins and a Ring. I've had the pleasure to see Eric perform at a bunch of different venues and enjoy watching his magic very much. I only wish I could've sat down with him to pick his brain a bit. Hopefully some time soon. I'm a huge fan of this next guy, Doug Brewer. I had the chance to hang out with Doug in between filming and I couldn't have met a nicer guy. He's great and the magic he put on the DVD set is great too. I love his Recaptivated routine. The ending of the routine has to be seen to be appreciated, a visible vanish of all three coins at the same time. Absolutely amazing. Scott Robinson is a guy that seems to be an underground magician even with routines published in the Trapdoor, Semi-Automatic Card Tricks, and a bunch of other places. All of his magic is breathtaking. Differences is the first routine he put on the DVD (you may remember Mike Gallo performing his version on the last set). This trick was the first that I read of Scott's in one of the old Trapdoor magazines I came across a few years ago. I've tracked down all of his stuff ever since, need I say more. Loose Change is another great one, it's a gaffless version of Digital Dissolve and all you need is a penny and a nickel. It's a lot cheaper too! Dan Watkins finally tipped his Coin Change Chalice (phew, that's a lot easier to type than it is to say). This is a great routine that I can't wait to start practicing. Dan was kind enough to post a source for the chalices (posted in the Nothing Up My Sleeve section). I plan on ordering one to work on the routine. Scotty York was back again with more routine this year. What can I say, the man is a living legend. He has great magic and is very easy to sit down and talk to. Bill Swindle my favorite of his on this set. Great presentation and a great trick as well. Finally, last but certainly not least, Marc DeSouza contributed a crazy good Coins Across routine where you're ahead and then behind and then ahead, ok so I may've gotten carried away there but you get the point. Another great routine, well worth the effort to learn it. Ok so I probably typed way more than I had to about the set but I can't help it, the NY Coins Guys outdid themselves yet again. I can't wait to see what they have in store for next year. It was a privilege and an honor to be a part of this project and I can’t say enough good things about Roth, Rubinstein, and Gallo. Anyone who has taken the time to look into these reviews owes it to themselves to pick up this set. -Bill |

Thanks for the nice comments. I hope you and everyone enjoys the material I contributed. BTW- Gallo's Two Copper, One Silver is one of the best things I have seen in a long time. Simply wonderful construction. |

So far, I have only had time to watch two routines. I try to learn as I go. Thus, each time I progress to a new routine, my enthusiasm builds again almost to where it was when I first started in magic. So while I have not watched much, I was present at Seminar #7 and the subsequent filming and thus know these are top coin routines, well taught, and cleverly structured. The disks are also a supreme joy to just watch.
The theme is Workers. I chose to start my review of the Seminar by watching two routines I knew were easy because they are so well constructed, but man do they pack a wallop! Much of the material goes beyond anything I have seen before. If you ever wonder what could possibly be fresh about vanishing and producing coins, get these. It will take me a while to . . . I almost said finish, but I only mean finally review all the wonderful material on these latest disks. I will never finish enjoying and learning from them. Thanks to the New York Coin Guys and their very special Seminar #7 guests.

Thanks Bill. It was great to finally meet you too and to see your great coin chops at work. That Gallo routine (2C/1S) IS a great routine and something I started to play with immediately after watching. Dan's Chalice routine - of course, great. Roth's big secret - great. Rubensteins gaffless work on the classics is great to see and a real inspiration to routining. One routine I haven't heard anyone talk about was Scotty York's Nickel Through Hand (Almost) routine. This is one commercial bit of business and one I used immediately at the bar. Hilarious and magical (my wife even liked it )

Hi All,
Ok, I'll start by saying that these were filmed at my house and I do appear on two of the disks, but I think I can give an unbiased opinion. These disks are fantastic. There is such a variety of material, not only effect-wise, but in skill level too. There are so many routines that a magician without a lot of experience with coin work can easily master and present. I would say that 80 % of the material taught could fit right into any magician's working repertoire. These are commercial routines for the real world. So many of my favorites on the set have already been highlighted above. Doug Brewer's Bill routine is a gem and something I'm going to work on immediately. Dan's Coin Chalice is a masterpiece and I say that with the full knowledge that his head will swell, but that's ok. There is some footage from the actual seminar that appears as bonus material which has some really good stuff too. You cannot help but find more than your money's worth on this great set. I just got back from my european tour, and I performed 7 of my effects from the DVD's. - They got a great ovation, and everyone learned Scott Robinson's trick Loose Change, which I guaranteed them they could do in FIVE minutes, yet have a winner on their hands. All the stuff was practical, cutting edge, and yet not out of the reach of the average performer. You will have to work on some of the finger crunching stuff by DeCamps though, although he makes it look oh so easy! And yes, to answer the PMs, all orders going out now that I am back from the tour!! Lookin g forward to reading your comments about this stuff, which you WILL use!!!

All are different, and all are two hours each (or more) except for the first volume (2 discs) which is about 4 hours! These last ones (vol 11,12, and 13) have the most variety, as does 8,9, and 10. Vol, 1 is coins across, vol 2,3, and 4 are on copper and silver effects, and vol 5,6, and 7 are on productions, vanishes, and penetrations. No matter which series you start with, you will get new cutting edge PRACTICAL routines, new moves, discussions, and snipppets right from our seminars! There is also new material from our special guests The series has been called the video Bobo of the 21st century! We look forward to reading your thoughts and commments about our DVD's! Read about them at http://www.newyorkcoinmagic.net , and read the great review by Dustin Stinett in the March issue of Genii!!

I was one of the first to receive this wonderful set of DVD’s and have finally been able to watch all three and digest the plethora of information that is contained within in them. I also attended this event and having said that, as I watched each DVD it was like seeing this stuff for the first time. There was so much information provided there is no way anyone could remember all of it unless they had photographic memory.
This set of DVD’s is a “must have” for anyone who does coin magic. There are so many workable routines in here that are practical, doable and will have big impact on the audience. The key to the usefulness of these are most of the slight are ones we already know but put in new creative routines. When I buy a DVD I am lucky to find 1 or maybe 2 routines I can actually use. In the Workers DVD set I have already learned and do 5 routines. I have also learned some moves that are variations of moves I already knew but now know how to use them in new ways. There are more I want to learn but have not have time to practice them. There are some routines that can be learned in minutes. Some may take some practice but with a couple of hours of practice they can be done. Most of these routines are done with regular coins. Not allot of Gaffs but some nice moves with Sh**ls and C/S coins. And if you like Okito Box routines there are some really good ones in there as well. I highly recommend this DVD set and promise you will not be disappointed if you buy them. TC |

David actually discusses all the nuances of his Secret in detail in volume 11....how to introduce it, how to take advantage of it, and how to get the most out of it. That clip is only one application of his Secret. Both Roth and myself are performing with no gaff coins. You never know about Gallo, though...you think you know what it is, and he turns the tables on you!

Hi,
I have finished to see the last 3 Coinseminar DVD, and they are very good, again. if you take only the Volume 11, you have : - The Wishing Well, M RUBINSTEIN, which is a 4 coins production. It is real magic, with a story, and no false move. - the Talahassee jumping Coins, M RUBINSTEINa coins across routine. the third coin is a miracle, a real one, - Deja vu coin vanish, M RUBINSTEINa wonderfull dream routine, the sudden vanish at the end is not awaited by audience, - Okito Rocks, M GALLO, is a the never ending production of coins from a small box, silver, copper and chinese, - The World famous two coin trick, M GALLO, is a classic coin plot with coins, the six cards repeat or the eleven card tricks, - The coisn to cup, D ROTH, is a four coins to cup, with only four coins and no handkerchief, wich is for the first time, I believe, on a DVD, - The Chop Stick Wild Coin, D ROTH, is the wild coin routine, but with more theatrical presentation, Three coins vanish, is a miracle, it is new, you make 3 coins vanish stand up, without any false move, - Deep Palms coins Across, E DECAMPS, is a veru good 3 coins across with the deep palm, - Two Coin Classic, D BREWER, a 2 coisn transposition wich look real magic, - Nickle head, S YORK, a classic, I think to GOSHMANN, - Differences, S ROBINSON, again a card effect with coins, it is a transposition of one copper with thre silver, - Money Doesn't grow on Trees, B CITINO, a lot of peaople use S.... and F...., with this routine it is possible to see that these classic effects could be done with normals coins, Then teh bonus section, here you have the Open Servante explanation, a new tool in magic from D ROTH to use, You olso have the Stealth palm explanation from M RUBINSTEIN, every details of the move are explained, M GALLO Footage from Coin seminar 2009, here again magic |

Hi again, a problem with my computer,
In this volume, the eleven, a lot of magic and a lot of principles if you take the time to see and see again the DVD. the coinseminar footage are always teh one I prefer from the seminar DVD, because you can feel that every people here loves coimagic and try to show to everybody that magic could be an art, and it should be, and olso that if we try to think a little in a different way magic can be created. |
