I have decided to retire my old table and replace it with a tray stand and top. Here is a picture of my old rig. It is a John Riggs design, and it has served me well for years. I hate to see the old girl go...

I don't see any reason to retire it.It still looks like it has lots of miles left.
(more miles left than I do...thats for sure) Don |

I will still use it for stand up. I just cover it with a cover that I made. I just want something that isn't quite as heavy or bulky, and rolls a little better, thus the tray stand and top. I'll also be able to piggyback my small PA on the new rig.

Yeah, I will post some pictures of the new rig when it is done. I have the top cut and covered, I just need to put on the corner molding.
This table was made by George Kimery, the owner of Chalet Magic, back in the early 80's I believe. It was designed by John Riggs. I got it from him about 5 years ago.

Yep...that's a nice looking table that has a LOT of life left in it. Can't wait to see the new one.

THe table looks heavy, but nice. I am just about to make a new table. Playing around (in my head) with some different ideas. The one I want needs to pack really small, be sturdy and pass at a ren fair. Not an easy task! I'll se what I come up with. Any ideas?

Scott,
Whatever you do don't trash it, leave it just how it is. The history it has is a part of you. Someday when you are long gone(hopefully it will be a long time from now)it will serve as a reminder of who you were. Stuff like this is worth more than a photograph(in my opinion). Save it!!! I know I'm a little too sentimental.

When you say,"I hate to let the old girl go", how much are you thinking of letting it go for?

Arkadia - it IS heavy, but very sturdy. I can easily stand on it, but then again, I am just a little guy. I do have some ideas that I bounced around but I am going to try the tray stand. I thought about a tripod stand much like camping stools only taller. It would then fold up to 3 poles side by side, but I want to be able to carry or roll the table. That was an advantage in my old one. If I went with a tripod, then I didn't have a solution for rolling it. Also, I have a small PA that I use occasionally and like to have it under my table.
Carlos - I do not plan on retiring my table completely, just as my busking rig. I will still use it for stand up performances, I just cover it with a cloth. I will never get rid of this table. KirkG - see above.

Scott,
What publication does Riggs have the plans for this in?
by EVILDAN....
"The Coin Board Book" - moves and routines with the coin panel board. - http://www.lybrary.com/the-coin-board-book-p-827955.html "SLASHER - A Horror Whodunnit" - a bizarre close-up routine based on Bob Neale's "Sole Survivor." I don't know if the plans are published anywhere or not. This was John's table that he used for several years.

When you log on to the site, you find yourself on the "gateway" page. On the gateway page, there is a line that says "For free downloads click here." Click where indicated, and there is a list of free downloads.
Posted: Feb 16, 2010 4:50am If anyone still has trouble finding the page of downloads, please let me know. There is some good stuff there -- not just cups and balls material.

You are welcome. You can use that top configuration with some of the commercial table stands.
