Hi Guys
I have searched for a review of this effect but couldn't find one. Therefore I'd really appreciate your opinions on this effect, and if you could answer the following 3 questions it would be great. 1 Is this effect suitable for close up work in a walk around situation. 2 Is there a reset? if so how long does it take. 3 I know it shouldn't really matter but are the balls examinable e.g if you want to do a color transposition in the spectators hand etc. Many Thanks |

If you mean Bizarro's Color Changing sponge ball... I believe I read that it is the gaff only... you have to supply your own sponge balls.

Bizzaro's color changing sponge. can buy it here http://www.smappdooda.com/vend.html Answering your questions 1. Its Great for close up and walk around 2. Yes and no it changes color from say Red to Green. If its Green its set to change to red and vice verse 3. No its not examinable but it is so visual there is no need to run if spectator is not chasing you. In my opinion its the most visual sponge ball magic there is. Hope this helps |

If you use the Goshman color changing sponge ball to cube, you wind up with a non-examinable cube and an examinable sponge ball.
But you shouldn't let the spec's play with your props. It slows you down. Follow the color change with something else to distract them. Finally, you can do an examinable color change if you use the device that Roger Klause used in his silk dyeing routine. This is an open forum, so I can't discuss that here. It's not the best solution, but it will work. Changing the color of a sponge ball via sleight of hand without any gaff should not be all that difficult to work out. For example, you can hold a TT and a sponge in your left hand. Then vanish a different colored sponge via the same TT, and show that it has changed color.

Thanks Guys for your responses, it's really appreciated.
Bill, I totally agree about your comment using slight of hand, however it is the cleanliness and visual aspect of this effect that really appeals to me. All The Best |

I'm the owner of two of the Bizarro's color changing sponge balls, I use two for a transposition effect that I Use in Table hooping and even in small parlor situations.
About your questions...let see: 1 Is this effect suitable for close up work in a walk around situation. YES, but you end with no examinable sponge balls! The fun thing about regular sponge balls routines is that occurs in the hand of the spectator...this not, this happens in the hand of the magician, but compensates been a very visual effect. 2 Is there a reset? if so how long does it take. YES, is there a reset that takes maybe 3 seconds per ball! 3 I know it shouldn't really matter but are the balls examinable e.g if you want to do a color transposition in the spectators hand etc. NO, they are not examinable in any way...maybe with a sw***h of the ball, what I think is not practical. As I mention before, the effect is very nice if you use it as a transposition, I put one ball in the corner of my jacket pocket and the other in my hand. The examinable thing would be maybe an issue, but again, the visual of the effect compensate the don't to be examinable issue. Is something that you don't do in any set of close up...but in some occasions are very good! My best, Hansel!

One way you can handle this is to have two objects involved. Have a spectator hold out his hands, and place one of the objects in one hand. Then when you start the color change, place the ball into his free hand. Allow it to sit long enough that he has the impression that he could have inspected it.
