By the way, for all those who own the DVDs, did you find the easter egg?
There's a funny story to go along with the clip.

Eric, where can I find help on that flippy move? The one where the pinky pops the card. It just flops to the side. BTW, it was nice meeting you at Magi-Whirl.

The move is called the Top Shot Created by Lennart Green. I learned it on Volume on of Lennart Greens video set. the one that has his entire FISM act on it. However, I sincerely believe that I cover the description of how to perform the move a bit better than Lennart does on his video. This may be due to a language barrier, but in my lectures I also teach several techniques that help cut the learning curve down to minutes rather than weeks like it took me. My immediate suggestions, seeing how I can't look at your hands at the moment, is to remember that the index and thumb must maintain the pack. The middle and ring finger need to be completely out of the way, or the card will get hung up. Also remember the pinky must apply LIGHT pressure on that outside corner to cause the pop off the flesh of the thumb.

I'll keep working on it. When I pull down it just pulls the entire card off to the side of the deck and stays there.
Anyway, love the DVD. It's making me want to get back into coins again. Re-lit is so cool.

Just got it - a bargain at twice the price.
Amazing magic, incredibly well taught, beautifully produced. Every single thing on it is a home run - what else can you say that about?

Magic DVDs these days are either one trick DVD / effects that are not audience tested (but they said they did in their ad) / too difficult only able 99.99% of us just watch and stay away from learning them / self-ego publication and proved himself as a magician that has some kind of creativity... (name your bad experience here)
However, Eric Jones DVD set are not the above cases. It is a well planned DVD set with difficulty for intermediate coin / card, those are worker routines! Routines are perform most in restaurant situation with live audiences!!! Silent DVDs with breathbreaking music + movie award winning multiple cameras are good, but live audience with interaction is not bad either. My personal thought, I am not a coin magician, but this DVD set stimulate me at least to pick up my silver coins try to do effect inside. We've got a winner in this case!
Most memorable moment - with Maestro Juan Tamariz & Consuelo Lorgia in FISM Busan 2018.

Much of what has been said in this string I sorta said many years back about Eric Jones...That he is a talent, a force, a persona and performer of the highest order. Yep, I said it right here on the Café when he wasn't at all looked at that way. I could see clearly that he would become a force to be reckoned with. I was completely right about that and probably right about this too...
He's still doing some of the wonderful things he was doing then, just brought it better into focus along with a lot of his more longing ideas. His new DVD set is exactly as it is called, an extention of the man and that's completely true. The material covered in this set is a lot more than just tricks, they are complete tutelages on the finer points of magic...Graduate study, if you will. Eric is quite intellectual and as much playful when it comes to magic, sort of a jazz-magician...The cat's got real soul, that's for sure. His work is always expertly routined and delivered. You cannot go wrong in the better understanding of this science if you are being shown anything magical by Eric Jones. Take that from a proud NYC Coffee Cart guy (Coffee & donut- $1) out on the corner in front of a Starbuck's, one that clearly knows quality & excellence from a pretty good and unique perspective and set of experiences. So do yourself a real favor and check this new set out, it's definitely well worth it and the E-Man is the real deal, always has been and that's from the gut.. And in case you don't know, I always call it pretty much just like it is. -Mb

I bought The Ishkabibble Sandwich and Elevator cut as separate downloads from T11 and now suffer from buyer's remorse.
Not that I'm not happy with buying something on-line and having it instantly, it works perfect. I'm just feeling sorry for myself that I didn't just buy the whole DVD set right away and now will have to spend part of the money twice. Because that is what inevitably is going to happen. I should worry! I had no prior experience with Eric Jones' magic and I must confess after seeing The Ishkabibble Sandwich performed in the little teaser my first thought was that I was probably looking at video trickery of some kind. High hopes low expectations but, as usual, curiosity tipped me over. How pleasantly surprised I was that this time I was fooled the way I had hoped for, genuinely! What you see (and don't see) is what you get. A beautiful flowing routine with a sandwiched card that pops out faster than theoretically possible. And what a talent this man has for explaining everything so very clear. To give an example; Since long time I've had and studied Lennart Green's excellent work but was much to my frustration never able to get Lennart's Top Shot working without either having the top card stuck straight up or exploding all the cards over the table. Eric's instruction on this little prelude into the actual effect was a real "Aha-Erlebnis". Just the same afternoon I was able to shoot with the accuracy of a sniper without having to pick up the other 51 cards afterwards. Praise for Eric Jones! |

All of the magic in this set is practical and elegant. The routines are well thought out combining sleight of hand with the occasional gimmick leaving everyone entertained. I feel that if you don't have something to say don't say anything at all. Eric Jones has something to say in everyone of his routines.(that sounded epic)

Now I gotta go lookin' for an easter egg? Give me a hint... what color is it?
ok... Serious note: this is top professional work. I really wish Eric hadn't put it out in this format. It should have been a book. Minch would have done this beautifully (as would have Cow F Man). Price would have been cheaper to buy as a book but then Eric wouldn't have made as much money. That's the bummer part. The awesome part would have been his magic would have remained a secret. and that last crap part is just my dumb opinion so don't no one go git there panties all bunched up. (shushh ona double negative if ya dint catch it) If you were on the fence and forgot to grab this gem of a production back when this thread was buzzin then do yourself a favor and get it while it's still available. I'm hoping it goes out of print soon *cough cough..er I mean out of "production" soon. >:) Eric Jones, hats off to you sir. Great job advancing the thoughts and ideas that are usually left out of plots and routines in the art of magic. Thanks for giving to the brotherhood. ps if you have a spine go grab a "Reel magic - issue 8 / defcember 2008" from Kozmo and check out Eric's elaboration on Merwyn Bogue. Plus you can watch Mr. hilarious who nose his stuff! |

I bought it and love it. Many routines are simple to perform, some are advanced. My favorite is oxyclean. Well worth the price IMO. Haven't found the easter egg yet.
