What version of the ijet do you use? There is one with a little screen on it. Is the screen helpful? http://www.valueoutfitters.com/iJet-Two-......oway.htm Thanks

This iJet remote is a Text-Only device...no graphics on the remote screen. The text is black on a backlit blue screen, which is very hard to see at a glance in the middle of a performance. I'd recommend Jim Kleefeld's Sound Control remote and visuals for older iPods and the instructions above for newer Touch and iPhones.

Kmf, I purchased the remote Two Way LCD remote a couple of years ago. It is not good for our purposes as it goes to sleep...even when a track is playing on the Ipod.
This is the rmote you need for the Nano or Ipod Touch: http://www.amazon.com/iJet-iPod-iPhone-R......d_cp_e_2 Follow the directions from our friends above and you'll have an awesome sound control system. Rich B. |

Okay, I have changed things up a bit with my setup and I have a few questions...
My iPhone for some reason no longer wants to cooperate with my iJet. It's is very finicky, and not reliable enough for a show. The remote seems to be working fine with my old iPod, but I can't remember how to display the album artwork on full screen with the iPod. Can this be done? Thanks for your input, Fitz

Fitz,
It depends on the iPod. I'm guessing you've got a "classic" type, with a small screen, since cover art is the default with the iPod Touch. If that's the case, then there doesn't seem to be a setting for full-screen album art. You might try resetting the cover art so it's distinguishable from a distance. But personally, I'd suggest a different approach: set the backlight to just 2 seconds. After all, you don't need to keep seeing the cover art - you'll know what song's playing soon enough. The 2-second backlight gives you a nice "flash" of the cover and promptly goes away. It thus serves as an excellent "confirmation" that your signal got through, and is easy to see at a distance or even out of the corner of your eye. Just make sure to position it so the flash doesn't also distract the audience. Musically yours, Jim Kawashima |

I just bought an Ijet to use with my Ipod Touch and it all seems to work fine. I made up the "Album Covers" and they look great and you can see them from across the room. I must admit I thought it was my idea until I read it here!!!
My question is...What is the point of the silent tracks? Do you use them in case you forget to press stop? For me, I push play, at the end of the track I push stop. then advance it one track and it waits, then I push play and so on... The large numbers I have made up as album covers make it really easy. Really seems like a great cost effective way to control music. I am going to use it for the first time tomorrow night. |

By using the silent track in between your other tracks you only need to push the advance button every time you want your music to tart or stop. No need to use the stop button, the advance button, the play button.

So the silent track "plays" until the next track starts? I guess then you have to have that track timed exactly right or the other song will start or I guess you make it extra long. Do I have that right?

Ok....I've created some album artwork to label a track to see on my iPhone when using iJet. However, I've successfully used the instructions you've provided to attach the artwork to the tracks in question. When I play them in iTunes on my PC, I can see the new labels. However, after updating the playlist to my iPhone, the artwork doesn't show up. I do have some commercial songs I've purchased and those album covers do show on the iPhone.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks. |

Ok...I figured it out. iTunes 10.5.0 will treat a song/sound copied within iTunes as the same song with just multiple pointers to it. So if you update the artwork on one of the copies, it changes the artwork on all of of the copies. To get around this I had to make individual copies of my Silent tracks in windows and import each of them separately into iTunes. Then when I updated the artwork for each separately imported silent track, the label stayed just fine. I update the silent tracks to tell me which sound/song is coming up next.
I hope that saves someone else a little time in the future. |

For those of you that use the Ijet for your background music (I am new to this), how are you using the remote? I mean, do you have it on your table, and opening press the buttons for your cues, or do you secretly do this in a pocket, on the belt, etc..?
I love the idea of remotely keying cues, but not crazy about the audience overtly knowing when I am cueing-up my tracks. |

It's not a tragedy if they do know, as long as you do it with panache. I'd sometimes outright finish a patter line with, "... which calls for some appropriately dramatic music!" Then I'd point the remote openly. It'd get a laugh.
In my case, however, the "visible remote" was HUGE, because it was actually my wireless handheld microphone. I'd use a big gob of mounting putty to stick the iJet onto it, so I could see the buttons. In reality, though, I only ever pressed the "next" button. No need for fade-outs if you end each song with an applause cue (and advance to the next silent track during that applause). When I used a lavalier microphone, I'd keep the remote in my pants change pocket. |

I keep the remote in my pocket and press the buttons through the material so it's very subtle. In order to make it easy to distinguish the buttons, I have glued decorative jewels to the buttons. (They're flat on one side and look like jewels on the other.) This is an idea that Kelly Duro, of Virtual Soundman, used with his "click feel" remote.

Alec,
There are a few different remotes so I don't know if they all use the same steps. Here's the link for the instructions for the iJet NAV Boss: http://www.buyijet.com/downloads/dl/file......nual.pdf This is for the iJet iNAV Standard: http://www.buyijet.com/downloads/dl/file......nual.pdf This is for the iJet NAV Elite: http://www.buyijet.com/downloads/dl/file......nual.pdf It looks like all three use the same method but at least you'll have the instructions you need. |

Thanks.
I tried the method and it still does not work. Not sure how something like that would just stop working. Also, I must have a real old model. It does not look like any of those. The center play button is oval.
