I think he means 3 new videos since Foundations was released. I wonder what the next 1-on-1 will be?

Yes, Kimura. You are right !! Smile

I hope Jason will give us some more gambling moves.

My personal wish list:
- Stacking (Riffle Stacking, Overhand Stacking, Lay Stacking)
- Culling
- Faro Shuffle
- A selection of False Cuts and False Shuffles

Sorry but I don't share your enthusiasm.

Many of the good moves unveiled and taught for just a few bucks? I've been insulted (via mails or on may forums) in the past because I showed some stuff like kills or other not widely (but really used) known moves. When you try to detail some moves or to give good explanations or tips, there is always someone telling you that you're going to far and that you should leave the guy do more of the researches and work alone. But when a "star" is selling the knowledge almost for free everyone seems to be OK?

I deeply respect Jason, his knowledge and techniques (he knows that). But seeing him spreading all this stuff for almost nothing is something I'm not comfortable with. In brief, if tomorrow I post a video detailing, say, an actual method of cheating (let's remain obscure), I can bet $250 I'll get 20 mails ranging from "Arnold, are you are an idiot?" to "Arnold, you really are a jerk-off!". But if Jason sells one for 10 bucks everyone is gonna say "great!". There's something I don't really get there.

But I'm afraid I've almost understood why guys like me are not that welcome in many forums now...

Anyway, Jason's series are of great interest for anyone who enjoys card cheating/manipulation. And the least we can say is that they're are not expensive Smile.

I would agree with you on one level, Arnold, especially with the MacMillan switch.

But the moves aren't all that... secret, as it were. Hell you can learn all of this stuff free on youtube.

Why not just have a decent teacher making sure people do this sort of stuff correctly?

He's unlikely to come out next week on theory 11 with "hey here's a great juice formula" or "hey this is how you pull N-strippers!"

Jason has made videos on techniques that were already out there. Seconds, bottoms, centers, greeks, it's all seen print before. Palming, push-throughs, zarrows, double lifts, nothing new. The McMillian switch isn't his but I don't doubt he has some kind of agreement with the originator if he is teaching it.

I really don't think he's letting out any big secret. He's just a good teacher who puts it all together, along with references to help you go further.

I also somehow doubt you have access to all his emails, phone messages, conversations, etc. So when you say everyone says "great!", I think you're not speaking from actual knowledge of the facts. It's not like Jason would complain to us if somebody told him that he's putting too much on video.

But hey, that doesn't matter. You want to !@#$% about people telling you to keep secrets to yourself but somehow are hypocritically praising Jason for it? Then PM those people and see what you can sort out. It's better to address a problem directly instead of whining about it, and it's not like we can do much to solve the problem for you.

As a beginner I like DVDs like "Foundations". Here I find different techniques explained in-depth and not only in a rush like on other videos.

Okay, books are a great resource, but as a German reader I sometimes don't get the point. So therefore I like video as a reference.

And finally I didn't want to start a discussion, I only wanted to let you know that I PERSONALLY like the idea that there will be a second DVD from Jason someday!

One thing I really appreciate about Jason is the attention he gives to the history of a move, its pedigree and originators. that's the mark of a true artist *and* scholar. Its nice that history gets the proper respect and attention before he shows how to approach the move itself.

Arnold has never claimed to be anything other than a hobbyist who moves regularly in low-stakes private games.

And I'm sure he has said nothing here that Jason hasn't heard before. Jason is a big boy. He can take care of himself. And in the end, he only has to answer to himself as well.

So don't dump on Arnold for saying something that surely many people have been thinking. If there is any dumping to do, let Jason do it.

I think the point of the downloads is to start beginners on the path to learning the moves. They're presented in a format suitable to the customer base. Let's face it, Theory 11 is the iTunes of magic. I should know, the guy who more or less developed their business model is a dear friend. And they do over a mil in sales, so I'd say it's working.

The truth is most of the information is out there for anyone willing to spend the time and money necessary to find it. The kind of stuff J is teaching in the vids are the types of things that crossover well with magic. I don't think anyone in their right mind could accuse him of "giving away the store."

If you want to start getting into the "real" stuff then the argument loses even more steam. A simple lopsided riffle shuffle and a false stripping action to maintain a top or bottom stock that can be learned by pretty much anyone in 5 minutes has stolen more money over the past 30 years then all of the pretty false deals combined. The "real" moves are bland, practical, and (relatively) easy to do, because they have to be. And you all already do them.

Arnold I don't recall anyone insulting you on any of the forums for tipping your mitt. I'm really starting to think that you do have a bit of a persecution complex...

Look, I'm not out to defend Arnold or accuse Jason. But I think that was Arnold's point. Along with this, of course:

Jason is a world-class card handler with a talent for teaching, and he is using a rather new medium that continues to be controversial for its ease, speed, simplicity, and low cost. So information of this quality has never been so easily obtainable. Add to that a generation of young people who think nothing of sharing that information for free via P2P sites, and you have a combination which will aggravate those who think this knowledge should come at a higher price. The "time and money necessary" is virtually nil.

It is a legitimate point, whether one agrees with it or not.

If one were to spend an hour or two reading the Right or Wrong forum, one would quickly come to the conclusion that the Internet requires a rather radical reassessment of the ethics of how information is distributed and re-distributed.

Whether we are talking magic, gambler's secrets, pornography, or music and film, those of us who did not grow up with this technology are struggling to make heads or tails of it.

I, for one, am at a loss to really have a clear and decisive opinion about it. Sometimes the new technology positively elates me; other times it disgusts me; most of the time I just shrug and wait for more...ah...uh...information.

It will not curtail the annual crop of suckers.
