I think so, too ! But still wondering about U.F. Grant's PERFECT C & R ROPE TRICK that Dick Oslund mentioned. I believe it is found in the Stewart James ENCYCLOPEDIA OF ROPE TRICKS ,which I'm chagrined to admit I own and have read (but is currently not accessible by me),however for some reason I am completely blanking out on the Grant PERFECT C & R ROPE TRICK.

Also of interest is a very similar effect to the Neff MIRACLE ROPE: Al Baker's THE INSTANTANEOUS VISIBLE ROPE RESTORATION found in the book PET SECRETS (1951; Al Baker effects, written up by Clayton Rawson, also found in the big Al Baker compilation book THE SECRET WAYS OF AL BAKER , edited by Todd Karr)

Description:

"Would you like to be able to display a five-foot length of rope, hold it by the ends, and allow a spectator to cut it through the center, then gather the two halves in one hand, toss them in the air, and have the rope come down restored? (which can be immediately tossed out to the audience) ... You do not have to hold your arms close to your body in an awkward, unnatural, cramped position just before the modus operandi goes into action; your arms have complete freedom of movement and you can even stretch them out sideways at full length, something that is not possible with other gimmicks of this kind."

Yes the UF Grant Perfect Cut Rope Trick is in the Encyclopaedia in the "impromptu" section. Even he admits "this trick was not made to fool magicians" and I think he's right, since the "restored" rope will end up half the length of the original

I'm intrigued by the Al Baker version though - I guess it uses a more elastic kind of pull?
